Ray Rice - Domestic Violence

What do you guys think about Ray Rice knocking out his wife in an elevator? He has been given a 2 game suspension so far - I think he should be suspended for life and thrown in JAIL.

NFL.com says the same. That's a good start. Next, jail time.

Yeah, he was let go just a bit ago now that the video is out.

If anyone in the NFL saw this video before giving the 2 game suspension, they should be fired too.

Jail time won't happen. She refused to press charges and they're now married. I think he went through some anger management class.

Another day in the life of a U.S. sports/celebrity figure. I vote with my wallet. I do not watch this garbage nor contribute to it.

If every player in professional sports with a felony rap got fired, there would not be enough players left to have professional sports. Real stand-up bunch of guys... Not.

Can them all. Go outside on an Sunday morning and enjoy your day... There is a world out there. Or at least sit and read TRF. :-)

Wow, I just watched the video on TMZ. The fact that he knocked her out is shocking enough, but then he dragged her around like a sack of garbage after that. What a piece of sh!t human being. He should be banned from professional sports for life. And he should be going to jail, so he can get the same treatment.

NFL just suspended him indefinitely too. So he's out of the league for a while.

The video of him dragging her out was released a long time ago when it first happened. That's what spawned the original 2 game suspension by the NFL. Now we get to see the punch itself, too.

In theory, the DA could decide to prosecute on their own with this new video release but I don't expect to see that happen. Sadly, he'll probably be on a new team by the end of the week. Don't forget...Baltimore also just unveiled a shinny new statue of Ray Lewis outside their stadium. Play a sport well enough and you're exempt from most rules.

Edit: Or not; now suspended indefinitely from the NFL as well.

ostensibly his career is over, he was on the downside and he'll be out for at least a year. Even if he could come back after a year and still play effectively what team would want the stigma of being associated with him. Hope he saved his money...

I agree...considering that RBs tend to start their decline at 30 he would have at best one or two good years left. I can't imagine a team risking the PR nightmare over a year or two of production...at least I hope no team is that blinded by greed.

Don't count on it. With this video evidence the DA doesn't need her testimony or consent to file charges. In fact I would be very surprised if he doesn't do jail time.

Well, I too ascribe to the ideal that you never hit a woman and I haven't in my lifetime, but it sure looked to me that she was the aggressor in that video.

She took a swipe at him before they got on the elevator and then she charged him in the elevator.

Hitting her may not have been the right thing, but she gets no sympathy from me.

I have enough sense not to pick a fight with someone who obviously can kick my butt to kingdom come.

Roger Goodell should resign. This video did not just appear. It was certainly seen by the NFL before the two-game slap on the wrist was issued.

We don't know what was said or what happened before we have them on video. All we know is an incredibly strong football player cold-cocked a woman and sent her head-first into a railing, where she went completely limp and he had to drag her out of the elevator like a rolled up carpet. No matter what she did or said, his response was brutal and unwarranted.

Of course, he was wrong and he'll pay a hefty price for his lack of restraint, but his wife still gets no sympathy from me.

Domestic violence goes both ways.

Non-escalation should be the responsibility of both parties.

There are women who will trade a life of physical abuse for the status of a celebrity husband and the money. This wife seems to be one of them. Tragic.

I don't understand why people blame the NFL, but do not say any thing about the New Jersey court system that just slapped him on the wrist. He should be in jail.

It's too bad because he's one hell of a running back. He will get whats coming to him eventually, I believe prison time would be the best in this case.

He will do some jail time - hire a new pr team - donate a bunch of money and walk hand in hand with a now pregnant wife asking for forgiveness from the lord, the clergy and the public. Prediction- Back on the field in 18 months.
