Icon14 Trying a new place...God is in a good mood!

After a casual (Carta Blanca included) lunch and easy going rainy (VERY) afternoon, we decided to try a new place for dinner...

Looks like a Royal feast to behold.

Serving sizes are so huge these days.
Recently I was horrified to discover that a single standard serve of red meat is 65g (fish/chicken = 100g) however most of the steaks sold at my local BBQ Grill Restaurant are between 250-600g.

I stopped eating and detoxed for 2 weeks to let my stomach shrink. I hope I am on the right track. It is not about giving up delacacies but just bringing some moderation into the equation.

Thanks for sharing, great photos!

Portions are getting larger, me personally I take flavor and presentation over grams anytime. This place is REALLY good!

I've got to try that. As I travel all the time, it's having an impact on my waist line.

Would you share the city and the name of the restaurant? It looks amazing. (Cancun?)

Looks tasty.
I have never tried Chapulines. How do they taste?.
I've eaten escamoles and gusanos de maguey while on a trip to Mexico D.F. and really liked the gusanos.

No problem sharing, and it is not Cancun. Unfortunately, Cancun offers a handful (or less) prine culinary experiences, and most places will not be there next year. Most of reports come from Monterrey, Guadalajara, Ensenada and Mexico City. Latest courtesy of Vasto and Embajada.

It is a different flavor. Crunchy and not strong flavor wise, think chicharrones. Not my -to go- food but, hey, it is independence month!
