Ebay scammer

http://www.ebay.com/itm/251645903073?redirect=mobile

This crook ends the listing 2 days early while I was the highest bidder. Sound fishy? It gets better. I question the reason for auction ending early and he says his wife needs money. Previously sold items by him were located in California according to the listing. The watch was listed as London. He continues to say his nephew in in the US and he sold the other items. Checked the other items and they were also listed with the same horrible English. Called ebay and they let me cancel the sale. The pictures look legit but this guy is not.

Why you'd bid on that watch... From that seller (ID) is beyond me.
This watch is priced very low in the grey market. Any deal below that
Pricing and you're about to get robbed. Just buy here :)

There were 2 days left on the auction when I placed the bid. It was a stupid decision to bid. When it was ended by the "owner" two days early because he needed money more red flags went up. I know the feedback rating was a 6 but everyone starts somewhere. I will not make that mistake again.

The feedback was for $1.99 and $3.99 items. That and his user name would have kept me away 100%. eBay is a tough place to buy, feel confident and get a good deal...it can happen, but it's tough. Look here for a nice watch from one of the sellers with a long history like Takuya, DavidSW or any of the other long time sellers, and you'll likely get a better price, better condition, and a worry free transaction.

Thanks for the advice gentlement. The only reason I considered Ebay was the buyer protection offered by PayPal. The wire transfer method has always made me apprehensive.

The first two times I did it with each seller, I got a little anxious myself. but after you learn who the big dogs are here, you can buy with confidence and have the watch in your hand the day after the wire gets sent. Easy-peasy. I'm getting ready to do another 2 watch deal with takuya (Thanh Do) and would lose a wink of sleep over the wire transfer, but the anticipation of the incomings might make we toss an turn a bit with excitement.

Yes, the paypal protection argument is the one why ebay can be considered even for non experts. Wire transfer only works with very well known, extremely reputable seller that are reliable beyond any doubt and who have tons of AAA+ references, otherwise why would you send anyone any money in advance.

By the way: I stlill don't get it. what is the connection between an auction cancelled early and money needed? And why red flags? The auction was ended and you were out. So what red flags?

I'm confused. What red flag besides bidding on a low feedback seller. You got lucky.

The auction was ended by the seller. It was not due to end until 9-21 and around 4pm EST. He said he ended it early due to his wife needed the money for personal reasons. This was not a buy it now, it was a 7 day auction he ended after 5.

The fact that the seller ended it early at that low of a price. I am looking at a few pieces on here. Thanks again for the advice.

My take on the connection is that he sold the watch to someone early. No issue there as far as I'm concerned. It would be a lot different if the auction closed and then he refused to complete the transaction. I agree with ID and low feedback. Neither would entice me to trust him. On the other hand, with Paypal as an intermediary some of the risk is removed. Sorry you were disappointed. No sense in calling him a crook. No money exchanged and no commitment broken from my perspective. If the auction was closed early and you feel dissatisfied you might contact ebay about what happened.

I am not disappointed. He ended the auction early and wanted me to pay as if I won.

If you were bidding from the US on a watch located in the UK you might have struggled to receive it anyway due to US import laws. Read up on these if you haven't already before considering any international Rolex purchase.

The pictures look odd to me - they are all the same non-standard dimension, as if a watermark has been cropped from the top or bottom. The feedback is a huge red flag too, as is the description.

Take some time here and do a lot of reading before considering another ebay purchase.

Now I get it. He wanted you to pay as the highest bidder at the time he stopped the auction. That is different. Dark red flag indeed.
