Initial impressions of 116613LB Sunburst
I shot from the hip on this purchase having only seen the old 16613 and the Smurf 116613. I had to use my imagination to marry the two together and it didn’t fail me.
As a proud wearer of the black 216570 for 3 years I was a little apprehensive in how flashy this watch was going to be against my snow white skin and must say it’s a lot more subtle than I had originally thought! This is a good thing and what I was hoping for…. I’m beginning to wonder if the additional size of the Exp42 had anything to do with this? While not particularly flashy, the Exp42 does take up some wrist real estate and the Cyclops and everything about is still quid essential Rolex. And while the 116613LB is more flashy by design, I lost 2mm, and the colors are deep and dark indoors. Not quite a six of one half dozen of the other situation, but more so than I had originally thought which is what I wanted! It’s definitely the casual brother to the 116613LN… I wore it today with shorts, a short sleeve button-up, birkenstocks, and my Oakland A’s hat with no problems. I did get to try on the 116613LN in a similar getup a few weeks back and it didn’t work as well. So there you have it! Not really a review but hopefully good information for those on the fence. I’m not officially a one watch guy but this does make me an official one Rolex guy as my wife stole my DJ. I couldn’t help but remember the Knight from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and keep uttering “You have chosen wisely” Made a short video but unsure how to post it? <embed width="600" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullscreen="true" allowNetworking="all" wmode="transparent" src="http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf" flashvars="file=http%3A%2F%2Fvidmg.photobucket.com %2Falbums%2Fv282%2Fsierra11b%2FIMG_0436_zps5683c7e 2.mp4&title="> |
