1001 excuses we tell our significant other when we get a new watch

I am sure that everyone in the TRF fully disclaims to their partner their intention to get another watch (not!). So let us assume for a moment that we do not, and we find ourselves looking at our beautiful new watch, imagining the places we will wear it to, the stories we will tell our friends and the wrist pictures we will post on TRF......when suddenly our wife/husband/significant other approaches and asks us that horrible question: Did you get a new watch?????

At that moment we need to be quick on our feet and give a very credible, ingenious and natural response. Thus the purpose of this thread, what will your response be?

Let me start with mine (which I actually used this week)

"It was David SW's fault"

They will increase the price next month. Heard from a friend who knows a friend that has an uncle at an AD that has an inside connection.

I didn't realize the AD had a policy "You get your fingerprints on it... you bought it". Thank goodness it was only the YG DDII instead of the Platona...

My wife is fine with me buying watches, as long as we don't have to eat rice, potatoes and spaghetti for the next year or two

I worked really hard, I don't drink, gamble, hit the clubs etc.
A new watch is just a way of rewarding myself.

And I stopped collecting Hot Toys.

Second watch
I needed a weekend watch to go with my weekday watch.

Next watch
I needed a casual dress and a dressier piece

Next watch.
I needed a watch that I wouldn't mind if it got scratch. To protect the value of my other watches. I'm thinking of you

Next watch to 7th watch
There is 7 days in the week

8th watch
A recent study has said that if you wear your watches less they last longer. Like your shoes. If you wear them every day you will need to replace in 4 months. The servicing costs in saving are astronomical

Next watch
Oh this one isn't new ice had it for ages you just forget about it

Last watch
Okay you send me to get counselling.

My wife really keeps her eyes open now. She has now found my stash, surprisingly she just look at me and said " I want another one ". I said ok, all is good now She saw my 116619 and loved it, I told her I traded my 116613 diamond dial in for that.

She's the best wife ever.

No excuse necessary. My wife likes Rolexes. I only need an excuse if I buy a non-Rolex. True story.

Lol... It's the same watch, I change the bezel. One bezel is called Submariner and the other bezel GMT!

"No, honey, this is the same watch, I just changed the strap to a bracelet. Honestly, you never listen to me when I talk about my passions and good communication is the absolute key to any successful marriage as Dr Oprah always says. I feel frustrated and unappreciated when you do this. I will accept your apology this time but please let us break this vicious cycle for the sake of our marriage... and if you really want to show me you understand me, well then, actually, my boy needs a brother..."
