Help me decide
I am considering adding a piece to my collection, I have narrowed it down to two and hope some of you will jump in and give me unbiased opinions ( in a Rolex forum? Who am I kidding?)
The first one is 114060. I already have several Rolexes (GMTs, BB and Date) but the 114060 has always sing to me. It's one iconic Rolex that I think will complete my Rolex collection and will probably be my last Rolex for a while (that's what I said when I bought my last Rolex). I think it's a practical and versatile watch that will have a lot of wrist time. The second one is the Glashutte Original Panomatic Lunar. It's a much more refined watch IMHO. Looking at the finishing of the movement for the first time actually gave me goose bumps and I've always like watches with a moon phase. I have about 2 dress watches and most of my watches are sports model though I don't dress up much so it will have a lot less wrist time. Another factor is I do not own anything that is German made so it adds a little variety to my collection. It is about 4k more than the Sub though. So there it is I am ready for some sage advices. |

Does the GO fit in your budget? If not, start saving and add it to your collection. The 114060 is a great watch, the GO is on another level.

The GO does fit within my budget but at the top end of it. One has to admit it is a much more interesting watch then the Sub.

Oh, and the other thing that attracted me to the GO is that it is a much smaller production run and therefor less common.

GO makes more sense as you have a few Rolexes but then we are not always ruled by our brains are we? Go for the one that makes your heart beat faster.

The 114060 is such a great watch that I would have a hard time not owning one. Get what you want but you'll likely end up with a 114060 at some time; resistance is futile.

If you're willing to consider a very late model 14060M, you may save some $ vs the 114060 and have a little extra $ to put towards the next watch. There will always be a next watch

If you get the GO try to get it at a very good price as they don't hold price like Rolex SS sport models

I stopped at 114060. That's my answer.
Kidding aside, I'd get the Sub even if they were priced the GO was the same price. |

Thanks Guys for all the responses. I am actually quite surprised at all the love for the GO here.
I have been leaning towards the GO to start with for the reasons stated in my original post. I agree with Ian that the Sub is quite similar to my GMTs. Travis, what is your reason for getting the Sub even if they are the same price? It would have been a no brainer for me if the GO is the same price as the Sub, I would have gotten the GO because it is a much finer movement and finish IMHO. Am I missing something here? So the hunt is on for a pre-owned one. I purchased from trusted sellers here before. Can anybody recommend where else should I look? I live in Canada so it will be less hassle for me if the seller is in Canada as well. |
