Icon4 Need some education on chrono movement

I am loving the Archimede chrono pilot and also last week tried on some ALS's at the new NYC boutique (yes I know these brands are worlds apart, don't worry).

I've never owned a chrono and at ALS I gazed with awe the 1815 chrono movement, including the minute counter, which jumped in a short quick movement as the seconds counter passed 12.

Later I read that other chronos do not do this, which I assume means the minute counter gradually moves between hash marks as the seconds tick by.

Is this true?

I think I am spoiled by ALS now.....uh oh.

$51k vs $1k....

I think most chrono movements are jumping. Every one of mine that I've had jump for minutes except for my Speedmaster 9300 which had both the minutes and hours on the same subdial. If you think about it, jumping minutes makes it easier to read.

My Daytona jumps, while my AP is gradual.

The rare combo is/was jump + flyback. Longines had this combo way back like in the 30's and 40's but it did not rise again until the ALS Datograph.
