Let me see....
When some one asks to see your watch, do you ever take it off and hand it to them or just show it to them on your wrist?
If they want to try it on what do you say? I guess it all depends on the person and circumstances. |

I don't remove it from my wrist, mainly because there's a chance they might drop it.

In the past, a colleague happily took his Daytona off and passed it to me but I have to say I am less inclined to do the same. Once it's been dropped all the apologies count for little.

Yes, I take it off and hand it over all the time. People get a kick out of handling a Rolex. It's almost always the same response " Wow, it's heavy!". Yep.

A friend of mine returned from vacation with a new BL 116618, he was telling me how he had nicked one of the lugs and how upset he was. I said to him "show me" thinking he would just hold up his wrist. With in a second he was pushing his watch in to my hand. I was shocked considering we were walking through the lumber yard. Possibly the worst place to take off your watch. I always laugh at the irony of that moment, he was so upset about a nick in the lug yet had that watch hit the ground there would have been major damage. I guess I am just more environmentally aware, ( if that's a real thing) than he was.

I've only ever done it once and that was at the bank, the teller liked it. Other than that, no. However if my niece is swimming in the pool, the seamster can take a dip in 5 inches of water.

THIS NEEDS SERIOUS CLARIFICATION 5 HOURS BEFORE A ROLEX GTG IN SYDNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FYI i am happy people to play with my watch and try it on, the chances of them dropping it are minimal, i guess if they were drunk I would not otherwise the risk is slim.

I like talking watches. If people are straining to get a good detailed look at the dial, and I'm tired of turning my wrist in that awkward position, I'll take it off and hand it to them with out them asking.

If someone asks to hold it or try it on I usually will let them do so. Certainly depends on the circumstances though.
Just last night I was at a function and talking with a doctor who was wearing a beautiful TT Serti-Sub. When I commented on his watch he started to take it off to show me and I stopped him from doing so. I look at it as driving someone's car, I'll do it if I have to but I would prefer not to. |

I sometimes just show it, but if I have time and its in a setting that i'm comfortable in, I'll take it off. Many just like to see it, touch it, try it on. I laugh and remind them that it's JUST a watch (albeit...one that isn't cheap).
