Audi RS 7 proves it needs no driver

This run is pretty impressive, I guess.

What I'd like to see is this car on the track with say a dozen just like it or with a dozen human driven cars.

Now, that would be interesting.

If you don't get to drive the car does looks count anymore? I'm curious where design evolution will go as autonomous cars become more mainstream. A7 is a beauty though.

Well, maybe not if Google has their way.

If all this comes to fruition and I still have my doubts about how many people will choose this option, I think people will still want a stylish ride.

People are after all still people.

Is it me or every time I watch a video about cars the narrator always has an English accent? Anyway, incredible video. I can only imagine what happens as Audi starts to really perfect this.

The day will come (probably not in my lifetime), that a self-driving car will be mandatory to get on a public road. In the name of safety...

<--- The day I can't go hands on, I might as well have a Prius.

Yeah, I suppose that it is an eventuality, but not in my lifetime.

Although, if I live long enough and my physical health becomes such that I cannot drive, I would suppose that I'd be very happy with a car that drives itself.

Just as I would be happy to ride one of those little buggies, if that would extend my mobility and independence.

This they should install in every car in the US as standard

Just a regular driving mode . . . not the race mode . . .

Would save us all a lot of time and money . . . than finally all drivers can text without running into other cars . . .

Amazing how people drive here . . . if you even can call it driving . . .

Brits also always play the bad guys in American reality shows (American Idol) or James Bond movies, etc. Americans harbor a deeply imbedded distrust of foreigners, especially foreigners who are very close to themselves, but with an accent.

Studies have shown that the monsters Americans most fear are ones that look the most like themselves, but with a disfigurement. Interesting, huh?

No, instead.. It's time to start treating texting drivers like drunk drivers. Put them in jail. It's just as dangerous as being drunk behind the wheel.

Sadly, it's going to take a few thousand more people being killed and/or maimed first. Then, maybe then, we'll get it.

I review cars and motorcycles for a living and it cracks me up that people think self- driving cars are just around the corner. Even the best production high-end smart cruise control and lane keeping additions are really crude, and have substantial limitations in the real world. If we as a society had any real brains we would be augmenting technology that actually works, i.e. the nearly-driverless technology we've had for centuries called "trains." Mass transit works beautifully if given a chance, and can be amazingly efficient and you can be quite productive on the way to work. But there's always powerful political forces that works against spending public money on such things. One stealth bomber could pay for a lot of track, but then I start sounding like Eisenhower and people hate that.
