Pappy Van Winkle Fans, Here's Your Chance!

Received this email earlier today. Heading home tomorrow and won't get there in time. Heard the line has already started.

Okay, we surrender! Try as we have over the last few years to devise a fair method to allocate Van Winkle products to our customers, the rabid demand has become too much. We have tried to hold our supply in the past in order to trickle it out in December to unsuspecting customers, but it appears that we can no longer do that. We have had to reevaluate this process due to overwhelming and unrelenting demand. So here it is:

When the doors open at 8:00 am EST, Friday, November 7, 2014, sales will be limited to the customer’s choice of ONE BOTTLE TOTAL of the following per person / per household, on a first come basis, while supplies last:

Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 23 Year - $221.99
Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 20 Year - $125.99
Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 15 Year - $67.95
Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye 13 Year - $83.99
Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year Lot B - $49.99
Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year 107 Proof - $41.99

In addition to this year’s Van Winkle allocation, customers may also choose ONE BOTTLE TOTAL of the following per person / per household, on a first come basis, while supplies last:

Willett Single Barrel Bourbon 12 Year TPS Private Barrel #8141 - $104.99
Willett Single Barrel Bourbon 10 Year TPS Private Barrel #1410 - $88.99
Willett Single Barrel Bourbon 10 Year TPS Private Barrel #1386 - $88.99
Willett Single Barrel Bourbon 9 Year TPS Private Barrel #7143 - $72.99

Again, sales of these whiskeys are first come, first serve. There is no waiting list, and The Party Source cannot hold or sell bottles in advance, or take sales by phone. These products are offered for in-store purchase only and will not be available online.

Insane! It might be the only way to get a bottle of this liquid gold at any price.

I've never tasted it. Is this Hype, or is the stuff really this good?

I heard the increase in popularity of PVW is supposed to be linked to a movie?

Always wondered that myself. But I have to say it has an amazingly distinct rich flavor that hits the sweet spot like no other.

Yes, I've seen it in a couple movies as well as mentions on TV. Although the hype is way out of hand it's still the best bourbon I've enjoyed.

15 is where it's at in my opinion. Best price point to flavor with a nice long finish. The first bottle I ever found on a shelf was the 23 year. Bought it and opened it when I bought my first house. Thought it was good but not worth the 230 dollar retail price tag. I was lucky enough to find a few 15s over the last few years and must say it's by far my favorite bourbon and I probably have about 80 to 90 open bottles currently

I agree, I had the 15 last year at a popular steakhouse in Tampa and it was superb.

It is well made bourbon, I've had a few of them. However, for the money and the effort involved in acquiring it..I'll take Blanton's

Well worth the hype. I agree its crazy but its also good. Agree that the 15year is the one to get. Just paid 499 for a 23 year and I won't drink it for a while...

Until I get my hands and lips on some, it's all hype to me. I have had some incredible bourbon for $50 and less (Blantons, Eagle Rare, Elmer T Lee for example) that if I ever get some it may have trouble overcoming the high praise. I can't wait to try however!

It's featured occasionally on "Justified." A good series and huge hit. That certainly propelled the brand.

That's how I feel about Johnnie Blue. It's okay, but not worth the $200+ dollars IMO. There's some excellent single malts available in that range. Black Label is just fine for me.

True. I can drink the green, and I do if I could ever find it, blue is blahhhh

Also 40 and 30 year Tawny Port is ok, I enjoy the 20 year better though

Yes, good stuff. Lagavulin, Ledaig and Coal Ila are three of my favorites. Ledaig tends to give me a hangover, so I tread lightly when drinking it. I like Green Label as well. Johnnie Black is my usual go-to.

I was talking to a guy at BevMo last night, they've no idea when it's coming in. Only 4 fifths came in around this time last year, hoping they get more than that this time. It cant be reserved, it's first come first serve. I highly doubt I'll be able to score one unless I'm really lucky.

Would love to try it. I am a big fan of Johnny Walker Blue and King George V. Very good stuff.

Just got this year's PVW 15 and RVW 10. The 15 is absolutely superb; better than the 20 I had last year and probably as good or better than the 15 I had last year. Haven't tried this year's 10 yet. Hoping to get a 23 one of these days, it's the only one I've never tried.

I've had the 15, 20 and the 23. Very pricey, but clearly the best bourbon I've ever had. Personally, I liked the 20 the most. I could not taste enough difference to spend up to the 24.

I'd do just about anything to score a bottle of the 20 year. My son is a bourbon drinker, and I am desperately tying to find a bottle for a graduation present, before he finishes college.

Stopped by The Party Source this past weekend and they said the line started to form the day before about 1:00 in the afternoon. 300 people had the chance to at least get a bottle of 10 RVW. Not sure how that breaks down as far as the # for each vintage.

I have a little of the 15 left I'm saving for comparisons with the 10 & 20. The 10 gets opened on Thanksgiving. The 20 will be saved for now.

What small connections I had for obtaining PVW have all become few and far between. Demand is outrageous. Usually I get 4-6 bottles, last year I got two, and this year two so while I'm disappointed it's not 6 bottles I can't really complain.

Was also able to land two bottles of Stagg and a Handy Sazerac Rye I just picked up today so all was not lost.

Very nice. I have not even had a whiff of any of the BTAC line let alone the Pappy. Obviously the northeast is not the best place to be for bourbon madness!

What are the chances of getting a bottle sent down under? Wondering the cost of the bottle as well?
