New Bank Recommendations. BOA has lost my business
Hi all!
I am quite tired of the horrible customer service I am getting with Bank of America. You try calling them and they give the the never ending automated loop of no help. The simplest changes or questions require you to literally show up in person to ask, as absurd as it is. What banks have you had better experience with? |

I left BofA 5 years ago for partly the same reasons and went to Chase. Been happy ever since. Branches/ATMs are everywhere and the customer service is excellent. If you aren't satisfied with the toll free customer service, walk into a branch and they are always happy to help.
I also joined my company's credit union but their hours and limited branches made it impossible to use. But I will say that they gave me an unbelievable 1% interest consolidation loan for me joining |

I love Wells Fargo and TD.
I had Chase, Citi and BofA, but bailed on them because they are/were horribly scandalous --- and led one of the biggest financial meltdowns and bailouts in world history. They get nothing.

I'm with TD, they have more branches in the US than in Canada now. They have stellar customer service. Not sure what their presence is like in VA though.

I like Wells also, but mainly because I had a friend there that gave me a college checking account for life (no fees ever).
ally is my next choice for a savings, customer service is pretty good for a bank with no physical branch locations. also they reimburse ATM fees. |

My wife retired from Wells Fargo after 27 years......I have a WFC CC and a small balance left on our house....we get great customer Service from them.....maybe because they can see that my wife worked there.
My BOA stock is dropping today also..... |

Small local community bank that my in-laws happen to be involved in, along with my wife working there. Needless to say, the customer service is great

Chase is great, I have a personal banker there and she does tons of stuff for me including notary services, free credit reports, etc.
The branches are quiet and clean, couldn't be happier.. |

That is good to hear. I am a long time shareholder in JPM and feel good that they are helpful. Jamie Dimon, CEO, is a genius.

Thanks all for chiming in. I'll look into Citi.
Ally looks appealing, but there aren't any locations to sign up around me :( PNC was recommended by a friend, I may also look into that. |

Have you considered using a banking service of an investment institution that holds your 401K or other accounts? Places like E-Trade, Schwab offer competitive options with no ATM fees and fast money transfers between the accounts. Thus, if you frequently trade on E-Trade and want money fast their checking account may be for you. I know that other institutions have similar options too. That or a local credit union :-)

Doesn't it all depends from the people working at each branch
Sometimes they threat you like dirt with a smiling face . . . |

Got the all major for my business but as mentioned all is depending on the person in front of you and the bucks into your account
And the way how you work with your money |

My wife and I use US Bank and Wells. I used US Bank when I was single, she's had Wells since she was 16, so we kept both and have our accounts interspersed.
My work brings me into contact with banks regularly, BoA has the most difficulty doing anything. Wells and US are much more capable. |

Primary checking account with Citizens Bank and just about everything else with Wells Fargo (secondary checking account, mortgage, HELOC, brokerage and 401k), except for savings which is at Ally Bank.

Chase. You can even do wire transfers straight from you iPhone. Handy for this hobby. They also are behind United Airlines Card, Amazon Card, Sapphire (w/chip and pin for international with no international fees) so if you have any of those other products they back, they all appear in one dashboard when you login. My second choice would be USBank, then Wells.
