The Green Sub Insert....some thoughts...
It seems that we have had some rumblings and speculation about the impending demise of the Sub LV. So let me speculate some more.
First, let's look at some logic points... . Basically, it's just an insert we are talking about... Sure it has the maxi dial, but the reality is the kermit is just an insert.. inserts are cheap to produce. . Green is the Rolex Corporate color and this has been a popular model for the 5 years it's been out.. Given these pointe, it is more likely we would see a maxi dial on the Black Sub rather than a stop of the green insert. Plus, Rolex has to keep producing the insert as a part, so keeping the model in the line-up, and it was seen at Basel this year, is a no cost option. Here's what I think. Next year we will see the maxi-dial return to the Sub Date. Rolex will offer the Sub in either a Green or a Black jacket. The following year we will see both green and black ceramic. At that point both the Black and LV will be discontinued just as the aluminum insert GMT has been. Now, if I were to bet; my money would be on the LV as a fixture in the line-up for several more years.. Thoughts ?

I would love to see the Sub with a ceramic bezel. If Rolex come up with it next year I'll be on the list to get one. The LV never smiled back to me.

I agree with you, Larry.
It will probably take some years before we see any updates to the Sub Date. As with the YG GMT IIc, the YG Sub got updated first. Later my guess is that we will see an updated TT Sub and finally an SS Sub update which would probably include an LV version, as well.
