So true. Someone I knew on a business level passed suddenly today.
Gives me perspective.

I couldn't agree more with the quote.
I can't say that I've lived my life wisely, but I always gave more importance to education and experience than to money and looking back, I wouldn't change a thing. I feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck when I wake up in the mornings as a result of some of my "experiences," but it gets a little better and the day wears on, so I just keep plugging along. However, one must do what one must do and some lifestyles take more cash than others.

My best friend died 4 months ago. Brain aneurysm. I talked to her that morning, her husband called me that night. Not a day had gone by for over 25+ years that we didn't have contact with each other. She was 49. Took my breath away and has left a gigantic hole in my heart. Big lesson to me to never take for granted the people you love. Husband and I have been working machines since we met in our teens. Always working and planning for the future. My "sister's" death just changed all of that. We just handed the financial planner a stack of stuff. Our retirement timeline just went from 15 years to 5 years. We just made the choice to go from an "everybody will wish they we're us" lifestyle to a "we'll live more than comfortably" lifestyle. I just wish my friend could share it with us.

True words and expressions from many here.
We should never lose sight that nobody will say on their deathbed: 'I wish I had spent more time in the office...'

Everybody is different.
I know people who will work to the day they die because they wouldn't know what to do with themselves otherwise. Good luck to them. I retired at 60 because too many people I knew were falling off the perch before they had a chance to enjoy a retirement. I have been trying to communicate to my wife that by the time you reach 60yrs, you need to do something urgently about any remaining things you wished to achieve in your life. A 'bucket-list' is a good idea.
