Submariner bezel usage

Hi all

I would like to start a thread on what people use their Submariner bezel for on a regular basis other than using it for its intended purpose of diving.

This is not to list anything you can think of, but to list what you actually do with it on a regular basis.

For example, for me on regular basis I use the bezel to time in minutes how long I've taken out a public transport bicycle from the docking station to make sure I'm within the 30 minute free period before I get charged extra.

I also use the bezel to time how long I've parked my car for pre-pay meter display. If i've prepaid for under 1 hour, I would set the pearl marker on the minute hand, if I've prepaid for a few hours, then I would set the pearl marker on the hour hand.

I also use the bezel to time how long I've put food in the oven for.

So what sort of things do you use your bezel for on a regular basis? I like to hear it.

Thanks!

Grilling/cooking, waiting for a table at a walk in, parking meters, how long it takes the mrs to get ready, walks, watering the grass, take out...pretty much anything that can be timed

You mean to actually move the bezel from the triangle 12 o'clock marker that by some must be left permanently lined up within a cats whisker of this marker.Surely moving it from this marker might upset the balance of the watch and wearer and make him/her fall over.I got this information from the internet so it must be true so be-careful make sure you are fully covered by your insurance.

To time time things.
If you have a no date you can use it to set it to the respective date as it relates to your minute markers on the dial.

Most of these guys won't get their watch wet, you think they are going to risk having a finder print on thier bezel or have the triangle off 1 mm....

I use my dive bezel to track a second time zone.

I fly three to four days a week. Sometimes I forget to switch watches and I'm stuck with my LVc or SD on the road. I'd rather have my GMT hand, but no problem! I just rotate my dive bezel.

I don't run without it.
I typically run out for 20 minutes in any direction, when it hits 20 minutes, I turn around and run back, in 40 minutes I am exactly where I started and my workout was extremely efficient.

Also use it for cooking pasta, I like it al dente. And soft boiled eggs.

and parking meters

I have used it diving but that was long ago, haven't in years.

For pasta and instant noodles, but I would much prefer it to be lined up perfectly above the 12.

LOL......my OCD does not allow me to move it from the 12 O'Clock spot. If it moves for whatever reason it has to get right back or my wrist is off balance.

Great topic...........

Use it for cooking all the time, also when we go into a restaurant I'll set it to see just how long we've been waiting. Nothing worse than complaining that you've been waiting a long time and you can't say just how long!

I feel a new topic coming up.

Is it safe to use the Subs bezel to time things?

I time things throughout the day. Whenever I order food to pick up, the first thing I do is set my bezel.

More importantly, my amazing little three year old daughter was just recently diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes. Aside from everything in our world changing, I am now timing meals. Her Insulin needs to be administered within a certain amount of time after checking blood sugar / eating. The bezel is getting a lot of use..

There it is.

There's a restaurant I like, but at certain times of the day the service is lousy.

If I don't get at least a beverage within five minutes, I'll leave and go elsewhere.

The Sub or the GMT works well for this.

If I'm wearing something else, the smartphone does the trick.

Obviously, the watches are better.

The list is only limited by one's imagination.
