114060 and SD4000

Anyone here who owns both? I love my Sub but can't take the SD out of my mind, I don't think I could part with my Sub but I am not sure its a good idea having both. Any thoughts? What would you rather have Sub or SD or both ;)

IMO they are much too similar to have both. I would keep your 114060 and go for something else!

I own both models and they are my only two Rolex watches.
It's often said that they look similar but they are definately not the same watches.

I've owned both...still have the SD4000. I prefer the smaller and trimmer lugs of the SD4000. I also need a date function.

Love both, but slightly prefer the 114060.

One or the other, but I'd keep your Sub, it has all the heft and wrist presence you need. It's durable, reliable, versatile and iconic. Only on this this site will you get the pitch about how different they are, how you can and should have both. In the real world, they are indistinguishable.

I like the fact that the Sea-Dweller is not as common as a Sub. and I like to go sans Cyclops from time to time :-)

Depends on if you have other Rolexes. If not then I would say yes.

If I were to choose one, SD4000 for me. I prefer the smaller lugs and thicker case and crystal. If you can keep both do so. They are two very different watches. Many will say they are too much alike but I'm sure you know they are very different on the wrist. Plus, an SD is still an SD 😉

I own both - I just got the 114060 today - I think you can have them both in the same collection - I'm a guy who loves Subs - I also have a SubC Date. They are all great and can all coexist - you will love them all.

Honestly a great combo would be a Hulk and a SD4000

or a GMT2C and a SD4000

Sub no date is nice too but it doesn't seem like you are feeling it anymore....they hold their value well....sell it and get what you really like!

I think the SubC and SD4000 wear differently enough that you can definitely have both. To me, the SubC is just perfect and disappears on my wrist weight-wise. The SD4000 isn't as ridiculous as the DSSR, but has enough extra bulk, weight, and subtle differences (raised crystal) to remind you it is there in the the most pleasurable way.

I think it more comes down to: deep down, you want the date complication, but you don't want the cyclops.

Im asking myself the same question and have no answer atm.
Maybe the good answer is removing the cylop of a SubC date by adding a new saphire.
But i just dont know if its possible and who can do it ?!!

I've got the 114060 and the older 16600. I would love to try the SD 4000 but that would mean selling one of those plus another watch which I'm struggling to reconcile.

I flipped no date for sdc. It really is amazing. Less common, date, thick but not ridiculous, you want me to go on?

Get the SDC and if you find that you're not wearing the Sub anymore, you can sell it. If you're still wearing both, keep both.

Sub for me. Prefer the slimmer profile and wider lugs.

I have the 114060 and initially prefered it over the 116600 but I will admit the 116600 is growing on me! I can't see the 114060 and 116600 both working on my collection but as I'm considering adding a BLNR next year I think the 116600 would round my collection off better..

Then I would have land, sea and air

I have two Subs 14060M & 114060 - which might seem weird, but I wanted to have a beater that I could wear on a NATO.
So I can see no problem for you to acquire the SD4000, particularly if you want a date function. Just be sure this is really the next watch you really want. I really love my two Yacht-Masters and have been eyeing the Explorer II for quite awhile. Easier to have similar watches while I have many.
