So what's your favourite Super Car.

The Poll contains the most well known Super cars.
I have added two American cars to the list, although I have been told that the Americans don't have a clue how to make a Super Car.
Myself like the Aston Martin DB9,hard or rag top.

Nothing like the Big Mac in my book. Not was it the untouchable for a decade after its launch, the attention to detail when designing each and every part was gob-stopping.

I voted Lamborghini, as it is my favorite by a land slide.
Not so sure at the comment that Americans don't know how to build a supercar. ( I will leave alone the fact that Aston's Vanquish uses two Ford Duratech V6 engines joined at the crank)

Have you have seen a Saleen S7 ? Or an S7 Twin Turbo?

Price $555,000

Engine 7 liter V8
Weight 2950 lbs
Aspiration twin turbochargers
Torque 700 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm
HP 750 hp @ 6300 rpm
HP/Weight 3.9 lbs per hp
HP/Liter 107.1 hp per liter
1/4 mile 10.7 seconds @ 136 mph
0-60 mph 2.8 seconds
Top Speed 245 mph

The ONLY supercar in the world with similar figures, in fact a tad better... would be the Bugatti 16-4 Veyron, which costs over 1.000.000 dollars.

So... how about ... Americans DO KNOW how to make a supercar. And they make it.

(not even going to mention the humble Corvette Z06, which for under USD 70k will outaccelerate AND outhandle the Ferrari F360, the Lamborghini Gallardo, the Aston Martin Vanquish, The Ferrari 550 Maranello, the Ferrari Superamerica, the Porsche 911 Turbo.... get my point?)

Good thread Peter! Mine's not on the list. It's the Dutch Spyker C8 T. Twin turbo V8, 525 BHP, all aluminum body, completely handmade. My dream car!

0-60 mph 2.8 seconds

Sweet car, there was an item about it on Discovery. The only thing I doubt about those cars are the 0-60 times. 2.8 seconds and slightly less is what an F1 car does. But these weigh 580 kg., have an 800-900 BHP engine and ultra fat tires that last 20 rounds. I don't believe that any road car can top that acceleration. But I'm not an expert.

The S7 is one beautiful car. When I initally saw the choices, I was wondering why there wasn't any mention of the Ford GT. I think it definetly belongs in the same class as the others.
My favorite would have to be the Ferrari. Can anyone say Enzo?

Good eyes. And you're right. The question is how many of the cars will actually have enough miles put on them to ever do a brake change? It's a shame when such beauty is left stored away in a room somewhere, never to be enjoyed.

Hmmmmmm. Even though there are a ton of super cars I like such as the Koenigsegg (spelling?) and the Pagani Zonda S, I'd have to say Ferrari. I am in love with the Enzo and the 360 Challenge Stradale. Not to mention the F430 modena and spider. Aw heck, I just love 'em all.

Ferrari hands down for designing and building dream cars for decades. I'd say they invented the supercar with the 250 GTO.

But a nod to the new Bugatti Veyron (wow!) and of course the McLaren is ubiquitous.

Wanna see what VW is doing with that showcar they've been hucking at autoshows, too.

I'm a Ferrari guy since childhood. Not that I've ever owned one. In fact I've only driven one once -- and that was "only" a Dino. (That was before Dinos became highly regarded, as they are now.)

As a buyer, I'm a Corvette guy. The current C6 doesn't grab me, so I'm looking forward to the next generation, to see if that one will suck me back in to the dealership.

You've got good taste Ed.

For me it will probably be a diesel but what I don't know yet. I take a long time to pick cars, my last one was picked in 1984.

If I win the lotto I'll buy it and leave it down there at your place for you to drive at your leisure. How's that sound? Except for the month of March, that's when my mother & father are down that way and they can use it. Deal?

Nah, no trick. As long as I get to use it once in awhile too. Done deal. Good. Have your people call mine. I mean me. Screw it, no people. Just a good old fashioned hand shake.
