Mods have regular jobs also.
I have noticed that as TRF has grown that we are getting less and less comments from the Mods per thread. Easy to understand as they mostly perform a thankless task, but I just want to say that their comments, when they have the time to give them; are greatly appreciated. All things change, for the better I think; just wanted to say that I always look forward to seeing a statement; or an opinion; a rebuke; or just plain ole' good humor from the Mods or Steve. No, I am not sucking up.
It was either this or bump my farting dog thread back to the top. |

I am a moderator on another forum. In my experience most forums are self policing. A successful forum with conscientious, well seasoned members corrects itself. Heavy handed moderating and overzealous policing of threads is counterproductive. On the other forum there is one member who has been begging for a moderator role. I think he has an ax to grind. That would never be tolerated here. Fortunately TRF members and moderators are so well intentioned and polite, I really enjoy being a part of it.
I really think the owner and moderators here "get it". I also think the general majority of members here are grateful for the one place on the net where being polite and showing class is rewarded in kind. I can honestly say that TRF is like a socially successful neighborhood. Friendly, classy, fun, supportive and safe from cyber trouble makers.

Well said everyone! I completely agree with everything said on this thread.
I guess it seems like mods are posting less because Larry (Tools) who is a mod and a significant contributor, decided top go on a cruise and will be offline for some time.

Of all the forums I frequent, this is truly the most friendly, the most respectful, and without a hint of righteousness. Clearly, that tone is set by the moderators. Thank you again! |

I will say that the social crowd in TRF has definitely helped balance my faith in humanity and the art of good old consideration. It is amazing how everyday being out and about in life you can come across so much negativity and just plain rude people with no sense of human compassion and then hop online at night and socialize with people that you don't even know and will probably never meet and get more respect than your everyday face to face interactions. Mind blowing isn't it? Great bunch of people here!!

since i owe you big time, guess i can't give you or Steve too difficult a time; and, if the truth be known, the longer i'm on here, the more respect i have for Steve and the Mods. While this COULD be a suck-up, it's not. It's based on experience. This Forum is cool, and Steve and the Mods(is that a rock group?) are the reason why. What I've discovered is that when it comes to the internet, I've not had reason to really think through all the issues, but they have.(I hate admitting this, but it's true). What can I say, I've been on here almost a year, and have a VERY slow learning curve. best, dan |
