18kt gold heaviness question

Have had a steel Date Just since I was 21. Now 56 and looking at a black Sub to recognize an inheritance. 90% on the two tone but maybe the Gold.

Question of the day is is the all gold one just too damn heavy for the next 30 years? The TT is definitely not but when I tried on the all gold i had to wonder.

Comments appreciated.

Some people LOVE the heft. Personally I do not find it to be a deal breaker, I rather have the watch that appeals to me. I would assume you would get used to the weight.

In this case, a 18k Black Dial Sub would be a stunning choice.

I have just moved from a SS Daytona to a White Gold a daytona. The watch is of course heavier but it feels and wears fantastic. I'd recommend all gold!!

It's not as heavy as people state, it's just "slightly" bolder in weight. So if ure concerned with the weight, it's not too much.. A PT is a complete diff story, I have a DD in PT glacier blue and that out weights my DDII lol

However like some mention, the little added weight does bother some people, my self I prefer stainless lately over the precious metals but it's not only because of the weight factor but other factors as well

Thank you for the gracious comments. To answer one tather prolific poster i am 6ft 188lb and have benched 1.5 times my weight twice a week since i turned 50. I also have a full head of hair and have been married to a. 5'10" 145 lb beauty for 31 years.

The question was posed in regards to a 30k investment that i wish to wear daily for the next 30 odd years.

Plenty strong. Not Weak.

Of mine, the WG Sub is definitively the heaviest and noticeably so compared to the SS and even the TT models i have in my collection.

The TT GMTIIc is the perfect everyday watch for me in terms of weight and how it wears. The WG Sub is definitely a stunner and very eye catching. But full gold does take getting used to since depending on how tight you like your bracelet you may notice more slideabiliy on the wrist than TT or SS.

but in the looks department, it's a must have......

Hmmmm how weak am i?

Not very.

But as you asked.....6' 190 lbs 16% BF 56 years old. Bench 250 every other day. Pics?

However the purchase plan is for a 30 year term when I'll hit 85.

Hence the question.

And a good one I would think.

The watch never lets you forget it is there, but it is far from too heavy. My steel Daytona weighed in at 144g and my white gold Daytona comes in at 222g, both with all links. Stop thinking about the weight and go for it. If you are anything like many of us, it will become your daily rather than a special occasion timepiece.

Seriously tho the gold subc at around 210-220 grams is not that heavy and you don't really notice it after a while except when you try on a steel watch. The platinum Rolexes at 260 plus are where the weight can be an issue for me.

Believe it or not, the opposite holds true for me. Adjusted the exact same, my 116509 fits me better than the 116520. THe only thing I can attribute it to is the added weight.

Having just made the step up to a gold Daytona like I did a couple months ago, am I crazy or have you noticed a difference in the texture of the metal on the skin and the gold Daytona retaining more body heat than the steel?

Come back when you don't have a problem wearing a mans watch.

Seriously though, it takes a few days to adjust to the new size and weight. You will be ok.

Lol so if I was to donate a pt Rolex to u, u'd have an issue ?

But like he mentioned a full gold sub is not that heavy, my gold rolexs aren't "wow" heavy, except for the wg GMT .. But it's not the gold that is making it heavy

When you first put on a PM Rolex the weight is very noticeable. This sensation disappears after a few minutes

Get the all gold one!!!!

Gold and Platinum watches are heavier but after it's on for a while you don't notice.... Lot's of seniors out there with gold watches on..

I sprained my wrist a few months ago, don't you dare ask me how , so I don't want to put too much weight on it but if you donate me a platty then I'll happily wear it on my right wrist. So my address is...
