Percentage of members that are dealers?

I have been reading and enjoying the post in the forums, but have noticed that the For Sale Forum seems to far out rank any other forum posts on a daily basis. I am abit surprised to see the number of posts daily in that forum. Especially since they seem to be selling to other dealers or others that flip watched as a hobby. If you look at the posts you will see somewhat of a pattern of members. What percentage of active members do you think are here mostly to sell/buy there products? Just curious.

I have no idea on percentages, but some members do seem to only post in the For Sale section, and some well-established watch dealers and stores seem to use TRF as (if they pay the minimum pledge) a very cheap sales platform. I would also estimate that the top 'trusted' sellers probably make several thousand dollars a week here. The yearly figure must be huge.

I have personally sold a few Rolex boxes, sets and accessories here, but I only buy and sell watches face to face in Hong Kong, as it's not worth the customs and tax hassles if exporting overseas.

I was amazed at the amount of people that buy and sell these watches on a regular basis, with such frequency. I even seen a posts from someone who bought the watch on the for sale forum, then re-listed it 3 days later. I am not sure what the benefit would be from dealer to dealer margins. If they had a physical store, you could at least understand it as a change of local retail stock. And the amount of people who flip these watches are impressive. Fun to watch!

there are quite a few dealers here, but that's just smart on their end IMO. It's like a drug dealer going to an NA meeting to find new clients. only none of us want to cure our addictions =D.

I do think a vast majority of users here just lurk/post in the forums. Though the FS has plenty of threads, there are an astronomical ammount of posts made in the threads of other sections. some threads end up having 20+ users involved and are multiple pages deep in hours. where as there might be 2 pages of FS ads in a day made by a total of 10 sellers who made 5 postings each. And 3/4 of the threads aren't even new they're just bumped up from getting pushed back by other bumped and new threads.

Your analogy is spot on! It does make sense when you put it that way :)

There are about 500 pretty active members up to 1/2 of which are pledge members. Another 2-3,000 are more sporadic in their posting. Many tens of thousands of members just lurk.

There are 1510 online at this moment in time.

We see 20,000 different members and guests viewing threads daily.

There are around 15-20 active sellers and another 100 sporadic sellers.

The average view of threads are 200-300 per thread in the first day. Some threads get up to 250,000+ views. Others gain no traction.

It's all normal to me.
