Croc Strap Care Question

Good Evening!

I just purchased two new straps, so its a great time to do some maintenance on my current strap.

Anyone one have any tips on cleaning the Black Croc Strap?

Thanks!

Lots of anecdotal answers to this. Generally you want to use a good quality leather cleaner, let dry, and apply a conditioner. Instead of a conditioner, I use mink oil on many of my leather straps to combat the salts in perspiration and help with water resistance. Caution: mink oil will darken a strap so test it before using.

I wore my 572 with the original black croc strap everyday for a year now- I picked it up last September 2016. I occasionally rinsed the watch and strap with tepid tap water and let air dry out of the sun. The strap is starting to develop a crack on the underside, against my wrist near one of the tang holes. I was hoping it would last longer than a year. I did not use any special leather conditioners when I cleaned it. Maybe that is how long they last ?

Any thoughts?

I've had a black croc oem strap for over 5 years. It's nice and broken in...I've never washed it not have I ever gotten it wet.
