People that wear their watch upside down

Watching 60min and see this gentleman in a nice suit, looking dapper, speaking (somewhat) intelligently. Then I notice he has the watch under his wrist instead of on top of his wrist and all of a sudden I lost a lot of respect for what he was saying. Anyone know anyone like this? Do you think the same thing? It's similar to a clip on tie, with a polo shirt, and Jean shorts...

9 times out of 10 it's also excessively loose. Like a bangle. I wish I didn't know what a bangle was.

Don't know anyone personally who does this. There is a guy on some home remodeling show my wife watches that wears his Sub 16610 upside down, really loose and it drives me nuts.

Bruce Willis wears his watches upside down in his right arm, although not loose. He is left handed which is why he wears it on the R, although I've seen some shots of him wearing a Daytona, DJ and Explorer II on the right arm, right side up. So at least he feels the need to have the good stuff face up!

If you've seen the show the missing the English cop (who takes advantage of an awful situation) wears his loose and upside down. It makes me giggle.

While at work I have worn certain watches upside down, just because it was more comfortable and less prone to scratching. But that was in really specific situations.

Our drummer used to wear his watch like that so whilst he was playing he could glance at the time. I think it looks odd and would annoy me if I did it !

Do you mean upside down or wearing the watch on the inside of the wrist?

I believe they are the same thing? Clasp on top of wrist watch on bottom of wrist (the palm side).

I think this may be it, if he is sitting at a desk in front of a camera he may have his watch positioned so he can see the time without being obvious while on air

I try to give people with different styles and taste from my own the benefit of the doubt

Upside down would imply that the 3 o'clock position is towards the elbow instead of towards the fingers

Yes, whenever I see someone with shoes on the wrong feet I just assume they woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

I think he means clasp on top (dorsal) so 9 would be closest to elbow (proximal) at least that would make sense

So the gentleman from :60 was wearing his watch on the inside of the wrist. Who knows? Perhaps he's a former military diver and never dropped the habit.

I worked with a guy in the late 80s (financial services) who wore his YG DD that way....not super loose, but seeing that hidden clasp on top was pretty cool.

Man, you are really judgemental.

Wearing the watch in that manner was popular among bomber pilots during WWII, who could read their watches without removing their left hand from the yoke. Among that generation after the war, wearing ones watch in that manner was more common than it is today.

I have worn my rolex upside down when on NATO only. Usually my intention was to hide it from annoying people or strangers, which is why it was on NATO to begin with...

I wear my watch on my right wrist, even though I am not left handed. Have been doing this since the first time I put a watch on. Just feels normal to me. Why care so much how someone chooses to wear their watch?

I think that's the reason my dad wore it that way when he flew his F4 fighter during the Vietnam conflict. And after he retired he still did it.

RIP Dad

My Dad wasn't a pilot or even in WWII, but he was close in age to this generation and he always wore his watch that way. He was respected by many of his peers and friends.

I guess they must have totally missed the fact as to how he wore his watch.

Does the op not respect what the Dali Lama says anymore??

He's wearing this model btw;

growing up I thought that was a woman's way of wearing a watch because my mom always wore it that way. But from a ergonomic/efficiency perspective, it does make sense.

My opinion is I could care less his people wear it...it doesn't bother me.
