18039 greatly appreciated

Insights?

18039 stainless steel, 1980s model (I don't believe the casing is gold as there is no gold stamp)

This is not an 18xxx watch, if authentic it would be more like a 16xx or 16xxx. The dial, at a minimum is refinished.

Is this an authentic stamp?

My father has never worn it because he never wears jewellery - I think it came new but there is no box - new in 1981 when I was born

It's just been sitting there for over 30 years

What signs do I look for that it's not real? To buy a replica seems rather silly to me - but I haven't found any helpful info for this one

Thanks

My mom purchased for my dad in the 1980s, I don't believe she would buy a fake - I believe it was 1981 when I was born. I'll attach more photos - how can I be sure it's fake? What should I look for.

The back sticker says 18039 - that is why I assumed it was that model - though I have had difficulty researching it online - I've spent hours.

My father never wore it because he doesn't wear any jewellery , not even a wedding ban. So it has just been sitting there for 30 years

I'm now too embarrassed to take it to a jeweller. The band is stainless steel and the casing I don't know.
Are there markings in Rolex for white gold? Any stamp like 10k on the casing?

The bracelet is fake also. That is an old, NYC Chinatown special. They were everywhere back then in the Big Apple and cost $20.
