Model # and bracelet
I have been on the lookout for my first watch and after trying to learn the basics I came across a watch that seems like it might not be right.
Its a Date with a black face and engine turned bezel from 1982. When I look at the pics of the caseback the model number says 15000. But that would mean its from a date with a plain bezel correct? Shouldnt it be 15020 or 15010? Also I can not see where there are any numbers on the clasp, should this concern me? |

Is this the picture of the watch? If so it looks like a genuine Rolex movement with the colored gears and the rotor looks correct.

I appreciate the help. This is a picture of the actual watch. If purchased I would take the watch to a local Rolex "wiz" and who is a trusted rolex guy for a long long time here in town. He said he would go through it for me for $100 and since I have a three day inspection on this watch I feel pretty good about it.
thanks |

Hi Wingshooter. It is not uncommon for the stamp on the inside of the case back to have just the case series number and not got into further detail. For example, a 16220 which is SS Datejust with the Engine turned bezel may have just 16000 on the inside of the case back.

About the bracelet. Check the clasp hinge. Attached is a genuine clasp and the hinge on the far left is roundly piveted on both ends. If yours isn't, 99% the bracelet is non-genuine.
