Nice piece, but personally I would rather roll that money into another PAM

No for me.
I can do a homage but not at 3.5k, add another 1000 and you can get the real thing.

For 3600 you can get an Omega Planet Ocean with the in house 8500 movement, 600m WR, jumping hour hand, ceramic bezel and one of the best bracelets in the industry.

Why is this considered a Homage and not a replica?

Simply because panerai is not listed on the watch itself. It is styled to resemble a panerai which makes it a homage. Put a panerai logo or one of the copyrighted works on it makes it a replica.

I have no issues with homage pieces, and I am sure it has good parts (sapphire crystal, assume a real ETA movement etc) but at $3.5k, I'm out. This is my homage ceiling as far as price goes.

Stay away from homage and go for a real thing, any real thing.

Doesn't the watch in the picture he linked to have both the word Panerai and their logo on the dial?

Good catch!
There you have it. It's a fake, not a homage.

You are right. My mistake. Looked at this on my phone earlier and missed it. Having the logo and the word panerai on it move it firmly into the replica/fake category.
