Rolex 116610ln vs 216570 Polar as daily

Hi guys

So basically I have infected a good friend of mine with the watch bug, specifically rolex😉 he works in the finance industry so is in a suit all week.

He has mainly been wearing an omega black smp pre ceramic and now fancies a change after 8 or so years. The smp already has a new home to go to so again this will be his only watch.

I have both the SubC and the Polar and after having a play around with both of them he can't decide which one to settle on. I've advised him the best route would be the SubC as this would be his only watch and it it's more versatile than the polar.

As much as I love my polar I feel that it is a solid piece within a collection rather than a standalone watch.

So what are your thoughts guys?

I agree with your thoughts. The Sub is a better all-around watch, epecially if your friend is in a suit five days of the week.

I agree. The 2mm size difference makes it ideal on his 7 inch wrist plus the fact that's it's the ultimate 'from beach to boardroom' choice.

depends.. I used my subC as daily wearer but it seemed too shiny.. the bezel can catch light and draw attention.. I now use the exp 42mm polar as daily wear.. much better. I wear my subC on the weekend.

I can relate to that. I rotate between 8 watches and tbh ever since acquiring the polar I can't seem to take it off my wrist. It's taken all my attention away from my subc and planet ocean Chrono which were both my favourites.

I have both, the Sub-C for about 4 years and the Exp II Polar for about 2 months.

If I were going to wear a suit, I would go with the Sub for sure.

With a suit? Sub, no question. I love the Explorer II but it's fairly casual.

Accountant by profession myself, subc is perfect for every occasion. Suited or dress down subc is a winner. I have a subc date, only rolex i have and its my everyday watch

Exactly my thoughts guys. I reckon the subc definitely works better with a suit.

A white dial watch normally pairs nicely with a suit but as beautiful as the polar is, it has a casual look to it that just doesn't quite do it imo

Having said that it is one of the best white dial watches out there and I looked hard for months😊

I agree it is a fantastic white dial watch and I wear mine daily and my sub less often. I didnt expect that to happen when i got the Polar.
Another thought for your friend is the black dial 216570. Best of both worlds possibly?

That's the first thing I said but when he had a look at the ad he didn't seem to like it. To quote his exact word; 'The needles look wierd'😂

I'll have to put another vote for the Sub. While I like the Exp II, the Sub is IMHO the perfect watch.

Ive had both models, and the Sub is the clear winner here. Easy choice.

I have both the Sub and the Explorer 2 polar. I say DJ2 with fluted bezel for a finance worker. Blue, black or white face.
