Explorer 214270 - independently set hour hand for future revision?
I have been recently travelling a little and most of the time it is Explorer 39mm that sits on my wrist.
Visiting different time zones made me thing that this watch would greatly benefit from an independently set hour hand, especially given how accurate my watch is and that you have to hack it and stop the watch for a few seconds to change the time. It would be a great feature worth the Explorer name. I believe all new Omega watches with 8500 movement have this feature - in expense of quick set date. Since there is no date on Explorer do you think Rolex could maybe accommodate this into the future revision of 3132? What are your thoughts? Anyway, I thought I would share some pictures too: |

second to last pic looks phenomenal, nice!
I agree, i think quick hour changes are very good and it isn't really much more hassle to change the date either for subs etc |

Love the pictures and I agree that a quick hour would be nice... I felt the same way when I hopped a couple time zones and I set my explorer 2 which was easy. When I got back to my parents house I reset the time on my Sub, I noticed the difference and thought "it would be nice for a quick hour set" I think it would be a practical decision since it is not unreasonable for even a moderate traveler to change time zones often.... Given the name "Explorer"it's a good place to start.

I've had the same wish as you for the same reasons. Definitely an advantage of the Aqua Terra for those who travel a lot. I doubt Rolex would make that change as it is one of the key features of the GMT line.

GREAT pics, but I doubt Rolex would make that change to it's classic sports model.

Great pictures, the best I have seen for the Explorer!
Not sure if I would want to add complication to this watch, but I see your point. |

Yeah that would be a GREAT idea and make the watch a lot more useful for travel, further adding to its WFL potential.

I like that idea! Would further seperate itself from those Oyster Perpetual references...

In a perfect world it would be standard on all Rolex watches, IMO. It's a nifty feature. Although I guess it would mean no quickset date on date models.

^ Exactly. Most of the time though, I prefer a QS date.

Great watch. Great pics. I don't travel enough for that to really benefit me but can see why others would.

That would be a nice feature for any watch to be honest.
I have Timex watches nearly a decade old that have that feature.
