Icon5 Black or White Tudor Chrono Dial?

Just a quick poll to gauge personal preferences for these two Tudor 94200 Big Block dial colour schemes. Pics borrowed from the web.

Thanks for playing!

Silver dial looks better, this is also true for those vintage Daytonas.

I've owned both and you really can't go wrong with either. But I've always had a soft spot for silver dials.

I think Silver Adam, but just by a whisker. Probably because it's easier to read

Adam, I have the silver which I love and recently saw a black in person and I was a lttle disappointed. It seemed flat and lifeless, mine really pops particularly in the light. Hope this helps

My personal favorite is with white panda with black trim semi-fluted bezel Arabic markers. That being said I would go with silver since you have the black bezel. I think the darker dials look better with non-fluted stainless bezel.

I think that's a fair assessment. The 79180 in my photo below (right) looks snappy because of my superior photographic skills , but in real life it is the slightly less-handsome brother of the 79170 (left), IMO. Some of that is because the very reflective silver bezel with black numbers gets lost in most natural lighting. I think a 79170 black dial might be very close to the silver dial. Here's a bit of Photoshopping to illustrate (center).

I have both and prefer the silver dial with black bezel. Visibility of the hands depends mostly on the background lighting--if dark the hands will disappear against the black dial, and vice versa if a white dial. However, overall I think the white dial is more readable, though neither are stellar in this regard.

I'm dying to get a 79170. I think the silver would be a perfect compliment to my explorer.

Thanks for your comments everyone. The silver dial is the one I have my eye on currently. I like the fixed bakelite bezel (not sure if that carried over to the 791xx series) and the Rolex 78360 bracelet on the 94200, which give it just that little bit more vintage Daytona DNA, IMO. I'm still tempted to wait and see what comes from Tudor in Basel though.

Great watches. I was eying them up for a while but I think they have limited WR. I like not having to think about such things. Now they have a cyclops that works!
