Icon7 My First Rolex...the decision

Hi all! New member from the UK here.

I always loved Rolexes and remember the ads in the National Geographic which always made them so covetable. When the 50th anniversary LV sub came out, I had to have one. I loved the maxi dial and the fact that it stood out a bit from the crowd of black subs. However, funds got eaten up by the arrival of my two children, so it went onto the backburner.

A good company bonus this month and I spent the past month or so doing a lot of research online. Yesterday, I decided to bite the bullet and went into town to shop for my watch - and it was a toss up between a new Sub or GMT Master II or a used one. Buying used would save me between £1k-£2k or more so I gave that a lot of thought. I found a used LV from mid 2000s at a solidly reputed dealer. Immaculately presented and the watch is as new, it came with box but no papers, which was reflected in the price. With all my other previous (cheaper) watches, all the packaging etc. just sat in a drawer, and I wanted a Rolex to wear, not wrap in bubble wrap, so I didn't feel too bothered about the absence of papers.

I bought it yesterday and still can't quite believe how shiny and beautifully engineered my LV watch is

I am sure most have been in the new purchase 'honeymoon' period - that excitement when you go and get it or order it, to then having it on your wrist and you can't stop looking at it and grinning.

Anyway hello from the UK!

Hi buddy! A fellow UK guy here too... Congrats on your new purchase, I also fell in love with the LV back in 2011 and love it to this day! Shame I sold it..

Always be a little cautious when papers aren't included, might be worth checking the lost and stolen register. That aside, HUGE congrats!!

You mean you aren't bored of pictures of Rolexes by now?! OK here are a few. Sorry they are so large. I love this watch. The green bezel is an acquired taste but I like the fact it's a bit different. And loving how shiny the thing is!

Welcome to the Club mate. I will always take a watch from a reputable dealer with no papers and save a few quid. Nice buy

Congrats and thanks for the pics. It looks great. You should always remember the golden rule, "pics or it didn't happen"

Now you should go out and find a black bezel so you can switch the two out when you feel like a change. It'll be like 2 watches in one for only a small additional cost.

Congrats! Is it an optical illusion, or is that 4 o'clock lug rounded off for some reason?

Is it just me, or does the 4 o'clock lug look almost pointed, rather than squared off at the end? Is it just the camera angle, or was there some kind of boo-boo that got fixed?

Beautiful watch regardless......I love that reference.
