Different shades of silver dials

I see some dials are very light silver in color while some look almost grey in color. I know silver dials can change different shades depending on the light hitting them so is the shade difference strictly due to lighting or did Rolex produce light and dark silver dials?

I'm asking more so about Swiss made dials vs the older tritium dials if that makes any difference.

I am not sure exactly how many silver dials there are (2 or 3) and I am sure it depends on the model. I assume you mean DJ or DJ2?? And they all patina differently depending on how that are used but I really like the new grey on the new OP. I have this but I would not classify it as the classic rhodium or silver dial.

Very nice!

Yes, I'm referring to the older 36mm DJ. I have a gold one and I was getting a new dial for it, either white or silver. I saw silver dials on some DDs that looked very nice but since there are color differences I think I'm going to stick with white so I can be sure.

I'd hate to buy a silver thinking it was light silver only to get it and it look grey in color.

The silver replacement dials are fairly light.
The darker ones are called rhodium and you cannot get those (officially) to replace a different color dial.
I'm pretty sure you'll be super happy with the white dial though!

I was thinking he may be referring to rhodium dials, which are also, I think, very nice.

No, I was definitely asking about silver as I found several yellow gold DDs with silver dials and liked the look.

However different dial sellers had different shades in pictures so I decided to stick with white.
