Finally broke down and bought a winder ...

After keeping all of my beloved watches in a desk-top box for years I finally decided to buy a winder. It is so nice putting on a watch that is showing the correct time and date (especially with a couple of non-quickset models). Here is a "before" and "after" set of pictures:http://www.rolexforums.com/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Although I'm not a big fan of watch winders, I must admit your collection looks much better on the winder!

Congrats!

Steve,
That would not make much sense on a winder would it? That one is an automatic RXW MM10. It is a 41mm and I love it.

Beautiful winder box. Your collection sure does look a lot more organized. I'm thinking of getting a winder too, as I have 4 automatic watches and it is a pain to set, but haven't made up my mind of the convenience justifies the price.

I would love to get a 4 watch winder...the only problem...then my watches would be displayed...so to speak. I live in a safe (kinda) area...but crime all around me....so, unless I can get a winder that fits in my safe..with a power cord...I don't think I could leave my watches out of the lock-up.

I have seen DC powered winders that are made for use inside a safe. I saw one that had a spot for only one watch, and no dust cover made specifically for safe use.

I bought a two watch winder at Brookstone in the mall. They sell the two watch winder in the retail stores, but also have a one watch and a four watch winder available through the catalog or online. The two watch model is AC only and runs CW for a hour, stops for three hours, and then runs CCW for an hour. This cycle is repeated as long as it remains on. It is reasonable quality for the $150 it costs. My GMT II and my wifes DJ seems to like it.

Here is a link to the winders at Brookstone:

I really should have ordered the four watch winder for an extra $50, but the wife said that would encourage me to fill it with more watches. Of course it would, but they don't all have to be Rolexes. I have an Invicta Pro Diver automatic with the Miyota 21 jewel caliber which needs winding too. I was so impressed with the quality of this watch (especially for the price) that a bought a Day/Date bilingual model for my brother in law in Mexico.
