I'd go for it however if he has no b&P and you're worried about if it is genuine...offer him $1300-1400 to buy it from him serviced. That way you get the Rolex service paper which is as good as the warranty and yourr peace of mind.

Buddy, you gotta stop buying these watches, you'll never make it to Manchester!!!!!!

Mike, I think he considering to sell that 1680 because he wanna buy a new watch. But like I said for now he still consider. But he want to sell it, I think I will be the first to buy it. And yes, before I buy it, I will bring that 1680 to RSC to check it that Rolex is real or fake. The chance is maybe still 50:50.

You don't want to left feel guilty about the deal otherwise it will destroy your enjoyment of the watch each time you wear it.
You need to have peace of mind, otherwise it will nag at you afterwards.
Only you will be able to decide what is the right and fair thing to do.

Do the right thing, TR, for peace of mind. I believe in karma, and if you're honest towards your friends, I believe you will be rewarded.

The best you can do is to give me his address because I don´t know the guy so I can
give him $1100 and you are still friends.

If I was you so have I told him about the market value, it´s not nice the day he find out.

Then when he find out you know it from the start so will the situation be bad IMO.

Good luck.

No offense, TR, but I gotta ask myself:

WHY does your friend not know what he actually has??

Where did you get the 1680 from originally??

Surely, he must know about its value to a greater extend than a mere 1K US Dollars. We are talking 2008 here, not the 70ies where a Rolex Sub Date was more of a tool watch than a highly collectable watch. Where has your friend BEEN all those years?

Is that friend of yours a very close one??

No so close enough, Bo. He is my Oldman Friend. I don't know I think he not so interesting with watch. that's why he not know about the current value. Tomorrow I will call him to tell him the truth.

Still, I'd post a pic of the 1680 here, if possible, before paying even 1K for it.

Also, if you can post the serial number (first 4 or so) and other details like bracelet and endlink numbers, it would be great.

Just trying to say you cannot be too careful out there. You're an awesome guy, TR, and I'd hate to see you scammed!

Sometimes, if it seems to good to be true.....(you know the rest).

It could be that tr's friend does not actually know what he owns.
Sometimes people don't bother as much as you think they should.

My aunt had a paiting on her wall, and during a house party a guy asked her about this particular painting, she told him it was a gift, etc...etc..

The man offered her 1000 euros for the painting. She said why not it's just an old painting i'll replace it with osmething modern.

3 weeks later it went up for auction and it sold for 45,000 euros!!

So i believe that this could be a case of tr's friend not knowing the potential of what he has in his possession.
