New guy here. GMT II question

Hello gents. I have a GMT which has 16710 etched on the case. But it has an AB serial number which is a 1999 serial number(if I'm correct). From my research, the 16700 was produced up to 1999...but mine obviously is a 16710. Thoughts? Thanks

A serials ran from around November 1998 well into January or slightly longer in 2000 and if its on the case 16710 then that's what you have.The 16710 was introduced with the cal 3185 in 1988, and both 16700 with the cal 3175 were running in the same time frame.

What Dan said. The 16700 and 16710 were 2 GMT references produced at the same time from 1989-1999. The 16700 is just known the GMT-Master where the 16710 is the GMT-Master II. The main difference is that the GMT hand and hour hand on the 16710 are independent of each other.

Yep.. If there was not a GMT Master being produced at the same time, there would not have been a GMT II. It's not the next generation watch that gets the II, it's a different model than one concurrently in production.. Same with the DD II, DJ II, Exp II..
