Your Rolex and Your Underwear
Ok, rest assured, I am not about to post a picture of my watch and my Alan's! My grippers are my business and mine alone; well, perhaps Mrs van Driver's too, but I digress.
Anyhoo, are all these "Your Rolex and Your...." threads getting a bit tedious or am I being a boring, middle-aged, old fart? I really think that these threads belong in a separate sub-section somewhere where members have to specifically look for them. Just, please, for the love of goodness, not here!

People usually vote with their posts, I have been doing a lot of ignoring lately though...

Your Rolex and your breakfast burrito!
Your Rolex and your bath soap! Your Rolex and your grill brush! Your Rolex and your laptop power cord! (Yes, tedious.)

Well I posted a while back about hanging up my Rolex hat,yes I have had some health problems that don't seem to be getting any better after major surgery. And at the moment in quite a bit of pain and discomfort, but seeing posts like this plus others, it pains me that the hanging up my hat is getting closer. It saddens me to see this wonderful forum started by real knowledgeable guys who know most things Rolex and quite a few other brands, have now come to this.Have fun by all means I like Jokes too that's why I was responsible in starting the Joke forum, but this is the Rolex watch forum for discussions about Rolex watches. There are other forums like the joke forum where IMHO these types of posts belong.

Not sure about that either. I'd hate it if an old neighbour of mine from years back was a member and posted pics of his Rolex and his wife's Alan's. Jeez, you could park stealth bombers on them! And now I've gone and traumatised myself at bedtime by putting images in my head that have no place being there. Damn!

Change of words to 'Your Rolex and your knickers' may light up some interest.

The ones with a a dog or cat are cool. Ones with the car I suppose OK but still a bit weird. Worst is a wrist shot posted next to a ton of LV bags, wad of cash, some tacky red sneakers and moneyclip, that looks just so ridiculous. The "dessert" one is quite up there but I dont think it is serious. So again, just my opinion here and each to their own. Dont like, then dont comment-etc. Best for me are just good photography shots. Good camera, etc. Well, I think if you wanna dumb it down all the way, why not "Rolex and your d**k pic"!

easier than being "internet forum content police" is to just close a thread and move on.

That would be bad too. My neighbour's wife recently confronted me and accused me of stealing her underwear off her clothes line. I nearly shit her pants! Too close for comfort that one, soz.

24 posts (mine included) in 1.5 hrs... that's why these threads don't just die and go away. I read them more for the groans than for any real content.

Yes they are getting old. It's one of the reasons TRF has lost several of it's most knowledgeable members. Many (not all) view this as a playground with very little thought as to what they are saying or the content of their response.
To be honest we here go completely nuts if someone posts a photo of a gun or a knife (some of which rival the cost of these watches yet are perfectly fine with some of the most vial avatars and attacks on others. If this is the direction Rolex owners are going Peter might have the right idea. I should add these are thoughts posed to me by others as well as my own. |
