FS: IWC Portuguese Chrono-Automatic

IWC Portuguese Automatic Chronograph Mens' Watch. It was a gift, there is slight fade and cracking on the band at which it is fitted, and scuffs on the case back. Face and case are FLAWLESS. The case and bezel are Stainless Steel, Black Dial on Black Leather Strap. Chronograph featuring mechanical movement with automatic winding. High-polished stainless steel case with brushed finish on the case band, diameter is 41 mm. I had it checked out at Tourneau, the automatic movement makes a slight audible sound with spinning, although movement is in fine working condition. Retail is around $6000, I am feeling this out for $2500 obo. Let me know what you guys think. More pictures available upon request. I would prefer cashiers check or money order, given the PAYPAL fees. Shipping is included, insured USPS express mail.

That minor noise that you hear is likely just the base Valjoux 7750 movement's rotor spinning.

Here are more pictures detailing the scuffs on the back of the case and crease on the band.

Do you have boxes and papers?

Are you the original owner?

The rotor should not make such a noise. I have worn an IWC Portuguese and it is as smooth as silk, just as smooth as my Daytona.

Are you positive that it is not a fake? This particular model is replicated at the $200 level and they use an inferior movement although the finish is pretty good. The original comes on a black alligator strap with cream calf lining and the straps do not disintegrate readily. The fake comes with a basic all black leather strap similar to the one in your picture.

Please be clear that I am not explicitly calling your watch a fake. It is of course possible that you have replaced the alligator strap for a leather one. It is also possible that you have experienced particularly bad luck in the rotor failure. It is further possible that you wish to sell a $4,500 value watch for a bargain price due to this mechanical problem.

Could you please post pictures of the box, papers and a macro closeup of the dial. I am ready to grovel and eat plenty of humble pie if it transpires that the IWC is genuine, however I have a greater responsibility to the membership to voice my concerns about the watch.

Further information.

The original's chrono pusher protrude only 1mm or so (see example)

The replica's stick out way too far. (see example from ioffer, $300 and your picture)

The replica uses a clone 7750 movement which is quite noisy and not too accurate.

Thank you for your concerns. I recieved the watch as a gift and have since asked for the box and papers that came with. The following link to Ebay is the watch I was price comparising. The mechanical movement problem, along with cracks on the band are the reason I wish to sell at $2500, given the watch is new $5500-$6000. If the watch in the link on Ebay is a fake than my comparison is of no value. The last thing I hope to do is sell a replica watch on a forum I have come to love, I will check.

The Ebay watch is not a fake.

The chrono pushers are correctly positioned. I emailed the seller and he confirms that the alligator strap is lined with calf but in black, therefore my assertions about the calfskin lining being only in cream is not entirely valid.

I suggest we close this thread until provenance can be assured.
