Is This Explorer II Sale Legit

Is this Rolex Explorer II seller legit? I have been in negotiations to buy the watch, which would be my first Rolex and most significant watch purchase so far. Unfortunately, I keep finding things that make me wary.

The link to the ad on watchnet by jimberry is provided below. The seller has other watches listed for sale and some of them say "Potential Scam" at the top of the ad. I also found the same watch listed for sale on Timezone by Jammy111, who is listed as a banned user. The seller says his picture was stolen and used falsely by a fraudulent user on Timezone.

I am also concerned about the method of payment. The seller wants a money order mailed to his local post office, but made to a different person.

In response to my concerns, the seller provided some references for watch sales, but I am still very nervous. I was so excited to finally become a Rolex owner, but should I steer clear? I appreciate any insight and advice provided.

The above enough to forget about this one. No one legit needs a money order made out to his wife, girlfriend, friend etc...

Plenty of Explorer 2's on the market. Try this forum. Don't get scammed.

Let me guess, is his "local post office" in Nigeria?

Pls listen to others here...up your game and look for a trusted TRF seller. You will NEVER find a pre-owned rolex in the modern area in the $3k price range....ever....not trying to burst your bubble, but again....respectfully save a couple grand more then you'll begin to have legit options.

I appreciate all of the responses. Don't worry, I had already seen enough red flags to cancel the deal. I did want to post this information so that anyone else who might consider this watch in the future would be aware.

I also appreciate the candid advice about raising my game. I have bought and sold dozens of watches in the affordable realm without issue, but it appears that there is FAR more risk of bad deals with either fake watches or fraudulent sellers when shopping for a Rokex, and obviously the stakes are much higher. This certainly makes the search for deals less enjoyable.

In researching this watch it did lead me to this forum, and I am impressed by all of the information available here. I will be sure to use it in my search, and after I hopefully become a Rolex owner in the future.

you list about 6 things that concern you, and then you ask what you should do? Any one of those things should make you run.

Common sense is your friend.
