Another diving trip with the Sub - Pic heavy

Hello everyone!

I was lucky enough to go on a little diving get away last week and here are some pics for your entertainment. I've accepted the fact that the camera I have does not do what I want, so I shall continue taking this type of shots.

It was a very nice diving experience, lots and lots of nudi branch's, and all different sorts of bigger sea life, including some very aggressive trigger fish that ended up leaving some teeth marks on the DM's forearm. I was bitten too by one of them in the calf but the 2.5mm wet suit protected me fully. The DM was not that lucky as he was wearing just a rash guard. (We did not intentionally provoke them, of course).

I saw one thing I had never seen before: You can see in one of the scorpion fish (I think it's a scorpion fish), they have legs. Yep, weird looking black skinny legs. There was one partially buried in the sand and the DM approached over the top of a rock to take a picture. As the DM's hand passed over the picture another scorpion fish came out from under the rock quite upset about the intrusion. The DM said he would feel the back of the fish making contact with his hand. Ha, we almost had a very short and complex dive! I was able to snap a few pics of showing the legs. Weird.

I took about 100 decent* pics, if you want to see more here is the link to the album:
http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/be...e%20Apr%202015
I'll be posting some short videos there tomorrow.

Anyway, enjoy the pics!!

Yeah, I was Koh Lipe, Thailand which I'm not sure if it's still considered the Andaman Sea or the Malacca strait (?). Excellent dive sites and the guys at Castaway Divers are superb.

I used a Sealife micro HD+ with a 10x mag lens.

I love the nudis as they are slow and easier to get in focus. I forgot what camera you have, but if there is a macro option, use it for the nudis and get as close as you can focus on them. they don't bite like the trigger fish. I remember when I dove off the Similan Islands a few years back, a trigger fish was not happy with us being around his area.

6th picture down would look nicer is cropped a little to 'show off' the anemone a little more, IMO. But still a nice shot!

Keep them coming. UW photography needs plenty of practice.
I had never been really interested in UW photography until I discover the beauty of the nudis in 2013. What interested me in the Sealife micro HD+ was the great advantage of a 60m depth rating (although I will never go that deep) and being fully sealed and very compact. IMO the greatest disadvantage is that there are no focusing/zooming options. I had been using a Nikon AW110 but it kept on crapping out on me if I brought it anywhere near 25 m, and it needed a hard reset when I brought it back to shallower water. I also liked the Nikon's manual white balance adjustment but the Sealife's automatic WBA does a great job, which I did not expect.

I added the 10x lens to see if I could get better close ups of the nudis, but they still come out of focus. I do need to start working on my picture taking and editing skills, but the latter takes time that I don't really have.
