Stumped!! Oysterdate Precision 6066 ???
Hi Guys,
This is my first post, so forgive me if I screw it up. I'm trying to appraise this watch. It's an Oysterdate Precision Model 6066 Serial # 765117. I know the band is a cheap replacement, but, what about the crystal? Did Rolex make any date watches without the magnifier? What year would thid be? Also, all the date numbers are red. I've been unable to find anything on this watch. RF is my last hope! Thanks. Zea |

Rolex came out in about 1954 with the cyclops....but it was optional for many models for a few years..
Your watch is a ~1956/1957, easily falling in the "optional" years..

Hi Zea
Nice looking watch, I have a similar one from that era but mine has a cyclops and a red/black dial. Bought mine for $675 a year ago, sourced the bracelet separately |

Welcome to TRF!
Very nice vintage Rolex! I'd say value would be around the 1,000 US $ mark. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you everyone for your help.
Tools, I found some serial number information. From what I'm reading mfg date is 1952(?) Nice find, Martin, I'm hoping to sell mine for closer to Bo's suggested price of $1000 USD (which is not worth much these days!). Thank you for the well wishes, Tony. Best to everyone... Zea |

Rolex reached 999,999 in 1954 and started re-numbering all over again at 100,000. They did indeed use both serial number sequences as yours in 1952 and again in 1956. I chose 1956 based on the dial looks and general configuration of the watch (I didn't think it looked like a almost 1940's product) The way to tell is to look inside the watchcase back. Rolex stamped their cases inside during this period with the quarter and date..(example II 56)
