Daytona or YM II?
Hi all,
Currently considering both stainless Daytona (white dial) and YM2 (steel) to complement my DSSD. Due to the nature of my work my watches are only really worn at weekends mainly, so not a daily wearer as such. I owned a 116520 Daytona a few years back and sold it after a couple years but I do quite fancy another. I also love the dial and blue bezel on the YM2 but for the moment it's one or the other. :-) For those that have owned or worn both which do you prefer and why? :-) Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks. |

I have SS YMII and my fave watch
I had a cerachrome Daytona too. These are different watches but I would pick the SS YM II. I see it's evoking people' feelings but mostly of which is in negative way. However, I have not seen a person who dislikes Daytona

I prefer the Daytona, why not look at the TT Daytona with the Blue dial I think it is awesome piece.

Not a huge fan of Either watches, but if I had to chose it would be the Daytona.

Considering that you have a DSSD, the YM2 will suit you better, the Daytona may feel too small on you since you have the DSSD...I too decided on the YM2 a few months ago as I also have a DSSD and I know I made the right decision, I love my YM2

Agree so YM2, also really like the RG TT, or a gold Daytona.

I released my SS Daytona and picked up a YG YM2 because of the weight. I'd pick a Platona over the YM2.

Both are great, and I love both. though you would think I'm biased since I have a SS Daytona white, in your case I'd do the YMII SS. As others have said, it might be a better pairing due to the size of your DSSD.

I nearly picked up the YMII but found the white/blue combo not as versatile as I'd like, if my collection was bigger it would be a great addition also the price was a little off putting.
Picked up the Daytona (white) instead but have now found the SDc lives on my wrist so that's now on the chopping block. |

Thanks for the replies folks. :-)
At the moment I'm leaning towards the YM2, I really do like the blue bezel. Like a few of you pointed out the Daytona may feel a little small compared with my DSSD...I was hoping to see maybe a new Daytona at Basel but it would appear for now Rolex are sticking with the classic proportions. How is the bracelet fine adjustment with the YM2? Must admit I've really grown to appreciate the micro adjustment the bracelet on the DSSD allows. |

Both fantastic watches, but very, VERY different. Different sizes, different functions, different level of (always popular) "bling factor"...
I tried both many times and, for me, there would be only Daytona. Timeless, classic design, reliable movement, perfect size (not too big and not to small), and it's truly prestigious watch for every occasion. To put it simply, go for one that "sings" you the most, base your decision on looks alone (because quality of both pieces is impeccable) and you can't go wrong! :)

Also on a side note make sure you buy the YMII right they do take a hit if you decide its not the one!

Both are great. Daytona will give your collection more variation. The YMII is beautiful for what it is but it is similar in size to what you have.

The bracelet uses the easy link clasp found in a lot of the newer models such as the GMT2c, DJ2, (and Daytona). It is not as adjustable as the glide lock, but still very serviceable. Good luck, |

I have the itch for a Daytona so that's what I would say. That being said since you have owned a Daytona already you might want to give the YMII a go and see how you like it. If you do you do if you don't you will have scratched the itch and be happier when you flip it for another Daytona. Sometimes I just have to have owned something even though it may no be something I have forever.
