Thoughts on SDc4000 vs the new Pelagos?

The Tudor Pelagos is a watch that I have found to be a great looking piece. Being late to the game.. I discovered just yesterday that the new models will get an in-house movement with some of the modern upgrades, such as a silicon hairspring and improvements to shock resistance. These features put it on my personal radar (I like the peace of mind knowing I have a solid and accurate movement, less prone to shock and magnetism - in no way do I mean to flame the ETA).

Both watches have aesthetics that I really like, which are unique to each of them. In my quest to remain a minimalist watch collector, I would enjoy hearing your opinions on how the new Pelagos stacks up against the SDc4000. I sort of feel that they are on the same playing field, albeit on opposite ends.

If you had to choose one or the other, which would you go for?

Side note, I have a 116600 incoming tomorrow.

I'd go for a new Blue Pelagos. It's a great looker, is way cheaper (ok, 'more affordable'), and I think would be more fun to wear, in a carefree kind of a way.

Carefree fun is a great point actually. There's always going to be the voice of an overprotective mother telling me to "be careful" when wearing the SD

Same here. I always cringe when I knock a Rolex on something, but smile and shrug it off when it's a Tudor.

I would enjoy the heck out of that incoming SD. If you like the new Pelagos, start saving and add one down the line

Other than power reserve, in no practically measurable way will the new in-house Tudor movement be better than its top-line ETA movement, but it will be more expensive to buy and service.

I would just enjoy your new SDc and then down the road look for an "affordable" 2 liner Pelagos.

The SDc just landed on my wrist today - what a stunner! I think the new Pelagos would be a tough sell for me now, but who knows!

As my collection stands now I would go with the New Pelagos Blue, but that is because I have a Sub and would, add something with a totally different look.

I was fascinated by the Pelagos until I put it on. Quality is incomparable, obviously, but still. I too would always think about the SD. I haven't seen the new blue Pelagos so maybe it's better.

Thoughts on SDc4000 vs the new Pelagos?

I really like the look of the SD4000, in particular the D-Blue. No contest in my mind except if you are looking for a watch you might worry much less about. In that case the blue Pelagos would be my choice.

D-Blue is the DSSD (116660) not the SDc (116600) you are getting the two mixed up!

I already have a SDc and it's a great watch my current favourite and it's causing my Daytona to sit in the safe, I am however consider the SubC (114060) Vs Pelagos at the moment, more to live on rubber/nato as my do anything watch!

I've D-Blue already. I like the look of both SD4000 and Pelagos (25600TN). Both of them are candidate of my next purchase.

Just got a Blue Pelagos. It's a great watch and I sold my SD4k. I will say I will have a SD4k again because in less than a week I do miss it but the Pelagos is a GREAT daily wearer. I am currently looking for a TT Blue Sub or a Hulk and will prob pull the trigger in a few weeks (prob be a hulk since it's not as similar to the Pelagos.)

I'd go for the SD4k, personally. The SD4k is in a whole different league than the Pelagos.
