Day date platinum
So I have the opportunity to purchase a 1999 day date in platinum. Dial is currently diamond which as a daily watch, I would probably switch to either the white roman, or plain stick dial. My delema is the platy DD or a WG Daytona which I have been keeping a close eye on? I realize that they are two different watches, and I guess I am looking for some opinions. Would also be curious to know which watch, after significant depreciation, will maintain their value?
Thanks Peter |

Sorry not sure on depreciation or the value etc. However if you are buying second hand, the original owner already took the hit, so you are ahead of the game on either piece.
However, if you decide to sell later do not think you will be making a profit or even breaking even. Usually flipping results in a slight loss (unless you hold onto it for a few years) |

Both high end pieces and two of my favorites. Interestingly they have in common that they're both the more expensive version of their less expensive looking cousins. For me it would depend on the year of your WG Daytona vs that 1999 DD. If I'm correct, the 1999 DD probably wasn't the solid bracelet and has the old style endpieces so visually not current. Also it's a ton of value stuck in that bracelet. You would need to make sure the bracelet is super tight. My vote would be to find a mint P or later WG DD so it has the new style heavy bracelet but not the new clasp and use the savings toward a WG Daytona or even a SS. As much as I like the platinum DD i just can't get there for the extra $10k.

I'd take the Pt DD over the Daytona regardless. |

Condition matters a lot for the purposes of this discussion. Got a pic?

Really depends on if the watch is fitting a particular function in your life. They are different beasts. If you are of the casual sort, Daytona. If it is for the office (semi formal or business casual then the DD)
IMO vastly different watches |

I suppose it depends what you are paying??
I'd be more interested in the DD personally. |

There is no hollow platinum bracelet on the DD.

As an only Rolex/Watch I'd get the Daytona, otherwise the DD/2 but preferably with ice blue dial.

Get the one you want and stop worrying about value. That way you'll come out ahead...you will love your watch and won't flip it, causing you to lose money.

I guess the real question for you is which to get first since you'll eventually get the other at some point.
