What's the first Rolex you've ever bought?
Which one did you pick, and why? Do you still have it? What's the next one you're going to buy?
My first Rolex was a 16613 TT 'bluesy' sub. I remember being enchanted by the huge Rolex posters in ADs featuring it about 5 years ago. One day I finally worked up the nerve and picked up a practically new one in Boston, MA and it stayed on my wrist as my every day watch since then until about a month ago when I bought a TT Yacht-Master II. My next acquisition will be either a gmcII batman or a wg meterorite daytona.

I'm sorry but I don't remember the very first one but I do remember the first new one I bought at an AD.
It was a TT DJ in 1963. |

116610LV was my first. Now I'm a Submariner junkie. Will soon be acquiring the TT Black dial sub.

Blue is indeed my favorite color, but I tried to mix it up with RG this time instead of YG

My first was not too long ago in 2012, so I'm relatively new to the world of Rolex.
I bought it brand new from an AD and it was a White Dial Explorer II 42mm. I absolutely love it and it's probably my favourite watch. I had never really been a big fan of Rolex and was actually on my way to look at Omega's at their store when I walked passed the Rolex AD and looked in the window. I don't know why but I thought the Black Dial Explorer was amazing as it was what caught my eye. Needless to say I never made it any further or to the Omega store. I knew it was the Rolex I had to have. However, when doing my research on the Explorers before buying I actually moved towards the white dial and that is what I eventually bought, even though it was the black dial that first caught my eye. I was bitten in one second looking at the small display of the Explorer family and it has only gotten worse since.

My descent into the madness began with a stainless DJ in 1999. Beautiful silver dial, it was love at first sight.

Mine was a 14060M Sub a year ago. Still have it . I wanted the Sub for decades but thought I would never afford to get one. [Turning 60 helped!]
Had cheaper Swiss watches and Seikos instead. A few months later I got a 216570 Explorer II and THAT has become my favourite. I am looking for something blue now, probably 116613LB. TT is beautiful! Three would be a very luxurious rotating collection to me. Thinking about it it's actually meant more to me than I thought it ever would to have Rolexes. They're simply beautiful! |

An AK I got back in 1999. Flipped it last year towards a Sub. I miss it, but don't regret the trade at all.

I think in 1969 or 1970 - I was working for Bailey Banks & Biddle the Jewelers in Atlanta
and my store manager Bill Richardson "forced" me to buy a Rolex so I will be wearing one at the store - good advert for the clients. It was a S/S 6239 Daytona manual wind for around $175 I dont remember exactly Retail was $375 (?) and bought it at half price and a little less...with weekly payments.. lol Actually I just talked with Bill a few weeks ago - still strong at the age of 88 |

4 years ago a DJ with WG bezel, and jubilee bracelet (1978 made), came after the Tudor Sub, since then many Rolex have come and the only one to leave was the original DJ.
Photo of the DJ, not the original box, just one I had the photo taken in. Very comfy watch I miss it but it went to justify the DD.
