Ooops. went to AD ... leaning toward another purchase: Stay, Trade, or Buy?
I went to an AD this weekend and it really made me want to pull the trigger on a BLNR, which I’ve loved since they debuted.
I’ve had a Subc (114060) for almost 3 years now and love it. I wear it every day. I also have a Speedy, which I got around the same time, but it's been over a year since I wore the Speedmaster. I've wanted a GMT since I got my Sub. My wife even asks when I'm going to get the GMT, since I’ve been talking about it on-and-off for almost 3 years. But the Fiscally Responsible part of me always keeps me from getting one; I keep thinking of my Kids College fund and the fact I don’t really make ‘rolex money’. There are a couple other watches I like but not as much as the GMT: Master Controller, Tudor Heritage Chrono, Zenith El primero. So, Should I be content with my Amazing pair of Classic watches? Trade my Sub in for a GMT (my wife is against this idea)- she is not a frugal as I am. Get the GMT and live happily ever after …. Until my Watch interest is sparked again and run the risk of my Kids having a crappy education. Get a less expensive watch? |

I'd say wear your Speedy for a week. You may realize how lucky you are to own this pair.

Step 1: Sell Speedy
Step 2: Buy BLNR Step 3: Make a conscious effort to save the BLNR money back overtime Optional Step 4: One day gift your children the pride and joys you made sacrifices for in order to purchase - your children will appreciate such gifts and everyone is a winner But only you know if you can afford the watch or not!

Speedy and SubC are a pretty unbeatable duo in my opinion. Trading the Speedy wouldn't get you anywhere near the BLNR, and I wouldn't trade a SubC for a BLNR. Grass is always greener and there's always going to be something shinier and newer out there. Plus, college ain't gonna get any cheaper!

Selling the Speedy won't get you enough $ to even come close to the BLNR. As stated previously, kids come first. Most reasonable thing to do would be to sell the 114060 and get the BLNR. they are quite similar after all, and a Speedy / BLNR duo is a great collection to cover all occasions

It sounds like you already have your priorities sorted out. Do what you can to ensure the children's education first, the rest is secondary.

Sell both speed and SUB and get GMT BLNR
Forget about all the other watches on your list...You don't really want those..and that would constitute a BAD MOVE.. |

Regarding the Speedy, I would keep that as the resale value is not great (depending on the model) and even if you get a good amount for it you will need to add a lot of cash to get the GMT. |

I love a Speedy - it is the only chronograph I really dig.
But if you don't wear it, trade it. |

You should pay kids' education fee first, and the BLNR is always there. You can buy it from the grey market to satisfy your rising desire fire at a reduced price later by selling or trading either Speedy or Sub. The worst thing is to buy a cheaper one that you are not very happy with.

Do nothing, except wear the speedy for a week or two... Then make a decision. Personally, I rock the SubC and Speedy most of the time. I know which I like more, but they're both awesome in their own way.

Trade in all other brands you own aside from Rolex, that will make you a happy camper.

To do it the right way you should be putting money away each month for the kids education. That money then becomes untouchable. They grow up very quickly and you dont want to have to borrow against the house or work your butt off when your older. Think smart about this so there isnt regrets later. Once there educated and on there way there will be plenty of Rolex's in your future.

Revisit the speedy and if magic doesn't happen, sell both and buy the blnr. It seems like a BLNR will scratch the same itch as the 114060 and then some. As for the speedy, you haven't worn it in a year- the writing is on the wall.
