3135 amazing accuracy
Hi all,
there are already a number of posts concerning this subject,I know, but this may help some of you as to what is possible/acceptable from this movement. After a stroke last year,I treated myself to a Rolex submariner 16610 S 1994 because I was feeling sorry for myself.Service history unknown but about 7-8 secs slow per day. For peace of mind I gave it to Rocco at Watchworks Bristol to give a complete service and spruce up.Tritium dial and hands not to be replaced. When I collected it,it was running 2 secs slow. I waited for 3-4 weeks to let it settle down but no change.I took it back and asked him to regulate to run slightly fast because it"s easier to set when needed. Since then it has run +/-0 over a 5 month period.Checked by atomic clock.During this time it has gained or lost 1 or2 seconds in a day but by laying it dial up it gains 1or2 secs overnight or loses 1or2 secs if laid dial down or if I wear it in bed(can"t bear to be without it). This is better than some quartz watches, not that it matters.I have found that dial position overnight DOES affect timekeeping though not by very much.Fantastic watch, excellent movement, that"s what you pay for after all. Some random pics os 16610 before service, and Fred who"ll do anything for a treat Hope this helps some of you, regards Dan |

3135 amazing accuracy
Just re-read my post and 5 months does sound unbelievable. In that time I"ve had to adjust for GMT(forward 1 hour or is it backward?).I"ve delayed checking atomic clock for 2-3 weeks at a time expecting to have to adjust time.Is this some sort of record?
regards,Dan |

Enjoy your Sub. My experience with watches with the 3135 movements and variants there of have been if you can find a good watchmaker then the movements can be regulated to run just about spot on. I have a GMT Master with the 3186 and had it regulated under warranty by the AD Rolex certified watchmaker and on a one month business trip through many time zones at the end the piece was running +1 second fast. But I also have more pieces with the 3135 that I don't have to adjust often a all.

My brand new 114060 Sub is tracking about 0.2 sec per day. I can get it to be even better by setting it down crown up or down as required. It is truly amazing accuracy, especially compared to my 45 year old Air King!

Looks great Dan, you gotta love the old school subs! Mine runs at a very consistent -.75 second per day.

Dan:
Hope your health continues to improve as well; in the meantime, get yourself an inexpensive timegrapher. You can monitor your watch's "heartbeat" even closer !! Here's my 16610 getting checked out....amp is a little low, but zero beat error and zero rate error...thanks ROLEX!
