1966 Rolex 1675 GMT Gilt with Box and Papers
I have for sale a very fine example of a ref. 1675 Rolex GMT Master with a gilt dial and small arrow 24 hour hand in excellent condition.
This watch is a serial 1.494mill with a date on the COSC certificate of Dec 1966. Details: Dial: The original gilt dial is in great condition with a gorgeous yellow fluffy patina plots, and hands that are perhaps half a shade lighter. The dial is chip and scratch free. The lume on the hands is in great condition with a small crack visible with loupe on the second hand. It has the small triangle on the 24 hour hand. Pepsi insert in fantastic condition showing nice fade to the colours. Case: Stainless steel case showing acceptable wear. It has likely been polished at some stage in its life but the chamfers are still visible and lugs are thick and strong with the spring bars not sticking out. Reference and serial numbers are perfectly visible on the case (blurred out for security). Crystal is in very good condition with a small nick at 12 o clock. Caseback is stamped “2478”. Bracelet: The watch comes fitted with a 9315 bracelet with 280 end links. The bracelet has 11 links. The bracelet has just been refurbished by Michael Young. Condition: The watch currently runs very well but service history is unknown. I consistently get accuracy of around +4 secs on the wrist and around +10 secs on the winder. Winds and sets smoothly. Extras: this watch comes with everything as pictured. Green inner box, hang tag, GMT booklet in good condition and COSC certificate with matching serial numbers and test date. Asking USD$12,000 directly deposited to my bank account in New Zealand. This watch is in my possession in New Zealand. I can ship internationally at buyer's cost. FOR USA BUYERS: I can't ship this into the U.S. due to Rolex USA restrictions, but will be in the USA (West Coast) from the 12th to the 29th of July. If you buy the watch I can happily hold onto it (it will be stored in a safe and not worn once sold) and ship it insured once I get to the States or can do f2f if we are in the same location. I have done several deals on this site (bought and sold) and can provide references. I am not a dealer. Just an independent collector who has a liking for nice watches. Feel free to send me an email at [email protected] or happy to have a discussion on the phone or Skype. |

This would make a great 50 year birth watch for next year.
Some background on the watch: From what I understand, it was bought new in the UK by its original owner in 1967 or 1968. He kept it and wore it as a daily watch through to the mid 1980's. After that, he put it in a safe and it came out again when he traded it to a local (New Zealand) watch shop for a new Tag. I bought it from the watch shop as soon as it came up for sale. |
