Love This Forum
This is the first real post I've contributed to this forum. I've been lurking here since 2011. A little bit about my Rolex journey. I was laid off from my job in 2008 but it turned out to be a blessing as I've been able to spend every day with my father who is starting to show signs of dementia. I come on this forum daily to read all the posts and truly enjoy how all of you enjoy your Rolex and other fine watches. I have loved watches for as long as I can remember. When I lost my job in 08 my wife started a "watch fund" for me that she puts money in every month. I've been able to acquire a couple watches to date. Thank you all for your contributions to this forum as reading them helps me keep my sanity as I care for my father. There are days that I find myself very sad to watch my father slowly lose himself but I always said that one day my father will completely forget me so I'm going to spend everyday with him and then when he forgets me I will remind him who I am and how much love him.

What a great post! I hope that you can chime in more when able because I'm sure you have plenty to share. I'm glad your wife support you in this watch thing of ours. I'm also glad that you can spend quality time with your father.
The life that I have chosen has kept me away from my family for nearly 14 years. I go home when able usually a couple times a year. There always seems to be one less family member and everybody gets a little bit older. In the next several years I'll be able to retire and move closer to home. When I do, I will definitely make up for lost time. Dementia is a terrible thing that robs us of the most valuable things. I hope it does not progress quickly and I hope your father remembers you always. |

So glad this forum has helped you and given you some joy and relief in tough times.
A nice idea may be for you and your dad to look over pics of Rolexes and maybe choose one together for you to buy in the future as a precious shared memory to have. |

Great to hear you derive some enjoyment and support from your TRF involvement.
Genuine care invested in family is usually productive for all involved. Hope things work out with Dad.

Welcome and Thanks for coming out of the shadows!
Your journey with your Father is one you will never forget and that he is definitely appreciating and cherishing. A watch can; tell time, help you be there when you are supposed to be and even make you happy --- But a Son can only have 1 biological Father who; raises you, teaches you the meaning of manhood/life, sacrifices for you and loves you unconditionally. Be with him, show him the love and respect he deserves, make memories until his light goes out one day like ours all will. Peace/Love/Respect/Honor/Truth

Welcome.
I too took care of my father after brain tumors got the best of him. Remember what you're doing now will help you for the rest of your life. You can look back and know you gave your all as son to take care of your dad - no regrets. Welcome and best of luck in your journey. |

Enjoy theses moments with your father. The above idea really strikes a chord with me, and if at all practical, you should consider it
