Sepp Blatter Resigns

Sepp Blatter resigned as FIFA president on Tuesday, four days after being re-elected to a fifth term.

Blatter, 79, announced the decision at a news conference in Zurich, six days after the FBI raided a hotel in Zurich and arrested several FIFA officials.

He was re-elected after his only rival, Jordan's Prince Ali bin Al Hussein withdrew after losing heavily in the first round of voting.

"FIFA has been my life...what counts most for me is FIFA and football around the world," Blatter said.

From what I understand, the sharks were circling.... It'll be good to get some new blood in there.

His name always sounds to me like a condition that would make someone incontinent...

The challenge, of course, is to elect someone who ISN'T corrupt or will soon get that way.
We don't want to mention the Olympic Committee, or F1, or dozens of others.

This opportunity is made for Roman Abramovich.......

FYI by luck I happened to wake up at about 2am local time when those two world cups were selected..... he had a Cheshire cat grin before the announcement that just gave away what Russia did to ensure the cup. QATAR just proves even further how corrupt the whole deal was.

Lets not forget that Africa and many developing regions along with Putin are crying poor about Blatter being pushed out....... As an old boss of mine said does not matter how thin the pancake is there are always two sides.

Let's hope the FBI will now prosecute him and all the FIFA bobo's.
I am so tired and completely fed up with all the corruption going on in sports and politics alike. Sincerely hope that the Olympic Committee and the F1 are also going to be investigated.
Big brooms are needed.

Surely you jest ?

Where power exists, corruption follows. Interested to see if the replacements are any better.

Indeed, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Mugabe and Moi were apparently pretty decent when they first came to power.

FIFA needs to completely change it's leadership structure. A board of execs with a chief exec and a chairman that check and balance each other. The president with all the power model is just not acceptable for such an important global organisation.

Like any football fan, I'm glad to see the back of Splatter and the likes of fellow crooks like Jack Warner.

Personally, I'd like to see David Beckham in charge of THIEFA, sorry, FIFA.

Actually I was going to say there's just too much money. People Luv their sports and with good reason, but the fact there's just so much money involved tends to attract so many of the wrong type of things.
