Icon6 AP Service

I've read a good number of negative reviews re: the above. I am here to summarize my experience.

I dropped off my 15202 at the Bal Harbour boutique for third year warranty extension and pressure testing. The staff was very pleasant, they showed me some great references and invited me to an AP sponsored golf event in August (but I will be on vacation so not going to make it).

Two weeks in, the staff emailed me to advise of a slight delay as the watchmaker recommended replacing a part that would need to come from Switzerland. The staff stayed in contact with weekly emails and called me twice.

The staff at the boutique emailed and called me yesterday to advise that the watch was ready. I went in and again very pleasant folks. Played with the RG 15202 - wow, what a watch. I asked that the watch not be polished/touched in any respect and all good.

Picked up the jumbo and received the nice service box I have seen in pictures before.

Watch is running great and showing nicely during our commute to work together this morning.

Might as well pair it with some cufflinks. Be well folks.

I've never heard or experienced anything but GREAT things from Clearwater (which is where boutique sends their items of course). AP service rocks

Glad you have that beauty back in the rotation

Great to hear, Thomas! Glad you finally got her back!

Where did you find those cufflinks?

Thanks much. I acquired them from a jeweler friend downtown Miami while buying something from my wife.

AP service is top quality from start to finish- my only complaint would be the cost!

My experience with them has been less pleasant unfortunately. Although I agree the communication has been great, I sent my ROC in 14 weeks ago and was originally given a 10 week estimate on the service. I spoke with Lindsay at APSC this week and she said they are still waiting on a part that she hopes will be delivered tomorrow. After that they will do the service and put it through their QC process which is 7-10 days depending on how the watch is drawing power. At best, it is looking like it will be 16 weeks before I get it back at this point. For the service cost (close to $2K) and this being my first foray into the brand, I am a little off put by the service thus far. I know I am in the minority but it has been frustrating to say the least.

Damn that's not cheap.
Could you tell us what exactly is being done in the service? Just out of curiosity.

Hi Xeal,

It is a chrono so the price is a little more due to the complexity of the movement I would assume. My service includes a full movement service and replacement of worn parts. It mentioned they are replacing the chrono pushers, crown and hands but I think this is standard as it was not listed out as a separate line item cost. I opted for the full polish and replacing the bezel screws and nuts which are white gold in the ROC. The only real thing out of the norm from a service perspective was a laser weld on the clasp that wasn't working properly but certainly nothing that would cause a significant delay in my opinion.

Thanks for the response, and i'm sorry to hear this.
I hope your watch is out sooner than you think; It does suck that you didn't have a nice experience like most people I have read about. I hope next time onwards it will be different.
Do post some pics when she's here!

That's rough! I would hate to get a brand new watch and then not be able to have it in my possession for 16 weeks.

I receive the same excellent standard of service in AP Singapore too. It is heartened to know that AP's service standard is consistent over different continents

Yep, the team in Clearwater does a great job! I have nothing but good things to say about AP Service.

Glad to hear that your 15202 is back home!

Hey Guys...here is my promised follow up. I received the watch Thursday and unfortunately I am not too impressed. I ordered a rubber strap conversion from them and they sent me the wrong strap (one for an Offshore instead of my 39mm ROC). Not the end of the world especially because the ROC bracelet is awesome to wear and better to look at. This morning as i was looking at the face, I noticed there was something off with the seconds sub-dial. Upon closer inspection with a loupe, you can tell that the dial is actually chipped and there is some residue there as well. I tried my best to capture it with my iphone. Pretty frustrated right now as the watch was originally quoted 10 weeks for the service and I received it 7 weeks late (17 weeks total) and there is supposedly a 7-10 day quality control process. If there was a speck of dust and I can only see it under a loupe, that is one thing. The fact that the chip is taking out a piece of the register makes it very noticeable. This being my first AP, I still want to love the brand but I am very disappointed to say the least. Especially with what it seems is everyone else's great experience with their post sales service.

Wow your situation is terrible and should not be stood for. I say contact the APSC immediately and tell them about your concerns. I hope they can quickly fix their mistake and that you can start to enjoy your watch!

Ouch! Hopefully you took some good "before" service pictures. I will be doing this in the future when I send anything in for service. I might even include a printed copy of the pictures with the package with the watch.

Man that sucks and is very visible unfortunately, I would contact them ASAP and make them fix that, it's not acceptable IMO...

Yeah I think either taking pictures either if you drop the watch for service having them inspect it and note whatever scratches or defects the watch has in case of problem during service is necessary unfortunately...

Thanks everyone. I spoke with Lindsay at APSC today who has been very helpful throughout the delay and issues. I realize it is out of her control and certainly not her fault but did let her know of my disappointment. I am sending it back to them tomorrow and hopefully it is not going to require a new dial which is 4-6 weeks if they have to get one from Switzerland. Does anyone know if the sub-dials are removable or are they part of the dial?

Hopefully it will be a smooth process and I will have it back shortly.

Keep us updated on this one...normally AP does a through inspection and note and issues (scratches, imperfections, etc, etc) before taking in a watch. Hope they resolve in manner acceptable to you. Clearwater is great, so keeping fingers crossed for you.

Thanks Paul...Once I noticed it this morning I went back to the service proposal and did not see anything on their notes regarding the chip/scratch so I believe it was done during the service. My frustration is how it got by their QC process as it is pretty noticeable, even without a loupe.

I will keep everyone posted and sorry to be such a downer on this thread, but it just hasn't been a good experience thus far.
