A. Lange & Sohne 1815 40mm discontinued???
Hi everyone, was on the ALS website today and noticed that they no longer list the 40mm version of the 1815 and only had the 'newer' 38.5 model on the site.
I'm never the one to speculate but does this mean they are no longer producing that reference/size? Or at the very least phasing it out? Any experts, insiders, or other curious folks have any thoughts and/or theories? |

Doubtful seeing as they just released the blackout 200th model in the 40mm case. Then again what do I know love my 1815 40mm WG though. Perfect size for me as I like to wear it casual.

But the 200th anniversary special edition is in platinum only. When I bought mine just earlier this year, ALS site had both the 40 and 38.5 models in wg, rg, and yg. And yes, love my WG 1815 40mm too...just wondering Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I am very much a rookie on this forum, but I do believe it is phased out, I was looking to buy an 1815 from an AD earlier this year and it was indicated to me they were phasing out, as the size was too large for many of their "asian" buyers was the quote. As it was I ended up buying a new but older stock Lange 1 from a second hand dealer. They were happy to do a slightly better price on the 40mm size, the AD commented he preferred the larger size as did many buyers.

Yes only size is 38.5 with exception of the Anniversary piece. Of course the 1815 UD is slightly larger at 39mm.

Glad I have mine in 40 as it wouldn't suit my needs as much in a 38.5 case. Also interesting they phased it out but still chose to make the tribute to FA Lange in the 40 case. |

For these elegant pieces, sub 40mm (i.e. 38.5mm) is the optimal size, IMHO.

I remember reading a Hodinkee article on the new 38.5MM 1815 which noted that the 40MM would still be available.
I am picking up the new 38.5MM shortly and can't wait! |

I wait 10 years for ALS to made a 1815 in 40mm and when they do I catch one in a eyeblink. If it's now out of production
will means my one will be a little more rare than the others. That fits me perfect and I love my 40mm 1815 and now we are a little more closer.

I generally agree but I find the Saxonia line to fit the elegant bill and the 1815 line sort of a transitional piece. Specifically, the pocket watch derived aesthetic which I feel lends itself to a larger case
