I've tried them out at an Apple store and MANY of my co-workers have them (I'm in the tech industry). I'd love to get one but I'm afraid that I'd hardly wear any of my real watches anymore!

I hope they release one that is more like a Fitbit in terms of form factor. That way I could wear it like a bracelet and still wear my mechanical watches.
Everyone that has one so far that I know personally (about 6 to this point) loves them. |

I know 2 people who have them, and both are very unimpressed.

I've seen a couple of people wearing them here lately, they didn't look good on the wrist at all. Funnily enough, the guy at the Apple Store who was answering some questions for me the other day was wearing a Sub LV. Most of his colleagues had an Apple Watch though.

Every time I pick one of my "real" watches up, I eventually put it down again. The apple watch is too convenient for me, especially the text ability and activity tracker. For me at least the AW has changed my hobby significantly. |

very light and comfortable electronic watch. Just received it at work, and barely had time to learn all. But, it is really convenient in terms of being alerted to incoming calls, as it gently "beeps" on your wrist. Messages are efficiently sent, with voice recognition that you may send as txt or as voice recording.
Quick traffic and weather update on your wrist is awesome. Of course, it is an ugly watch, in comparison with Rolex. But, I can see using it at work, all day long. And, i did not even start checking out the health component of it. Just checked my heartbeat a couple of time. |

I had a meeting yesterday with someone who was wearing one. In the 15 minutes that I was with her trying to show her how to do something on her computer, the damn thing must have gone off 5 times, and she kept losing concentration as she "had" to look at it.
What is that going to cost Corporate America? I keep my iPhone on my desk while I work, but unless it rings, it's easy to not interrupt what you are doing to check it every time a message or alert comes in. |

Good point but it's the worker who's OCD - not the Watch. While it will decrease productivity for her - my bigger worry is when she gets off work and hosts the highway to commute home Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Congrats!
Enjoy! My novelty wore off and sold it after six weeks. I am an Apple Fan Boy but didn't work out for me. |

I have all apple products but no interest in the watch. The battery life and charging is the issue.

Could someone please provide a little more detail on the "really, really, really" useful aspects of the device? I mean besides if both arms were in slings and you couldn't physically get your hand in your pocket to grab your phone.
That convenience seems marginal at best, and honestly all the hype about the Apple watch seems to distill down to this one "advantage". I can name numerous disadvantages it has compared to the phone. The phone doesn't need the watch, but the opposite isn't true. The phone has a much bigger screen and you can talk and text privately without walking around with that douchie earpiece all day. And the keyboard on the phone can be operated much faster because and it's larger so you can use two hands (or thumbs). In my mind it's not a question of Apple watch versus my Rolex. It's a question of Apple watch and phone versus just my phone, with the added negative that it would replace my mechanical watch on the wrist. The convenience hardly seems worth the cost...for me.

See post #12. If you rather get your phone out of your pocket, this watch is not for you.

But hey, I don't see the big convenience in a winder either.

Well, maybe it would be really really convenient. Not 'really, really, really' convenient.

Try Microsoft's Band, does all the things I liked on the iWatch and goes one better by having gps so you can run or bike without your phone. Wears as a narrowish band with the screen on the inside of your wrist. $199 and you still get to wear your nice watches without looking odd.

Ok, so two different useful things that happened today.
I took the day off, and in the afternoon I was in bed reading, and decided to take a nap. I just tapped the apple watch, and asked Siri to wake me up by 5:30pm... Easy enough, and quite convenient. Later on, around 7pm, my phone away from me and on silent mode anyway, my son called from the gym asking me about dinner, I would have missed the call but for the apple watch on my wrist, beeped, and all it took me was lifting my wrist to talk to him. So, there. I am afraid my DJ is taking a back seat, at least for the time being. |

really interesting to see fellow Rolex owners opinions here.
I am planning to get two for me and the lady. I was trying to resist buying a first gen product with shitty software that might decrease my appreciation for traditional watches but I suppose if it decreases my desire to buy an expensive mechanical watch it's a win ;)
