Winter Wonderland
These were taken a couple of weeks ago. I think we got close to 25cm overnight, and it was thick, wet snow that caused some tree branches to bend and/or break under the weight. Normally my snowblower can do our four car drive, walkway and the end of the drive (after the plow blocks me in) using less than a tank of gas. But because the snow was so wet and heavy, I used more than a tank. Further, the blower got clogged a couple of times.

That blower must have been a b!tch to push, eh?
Maybe that's why you used more gas.....takes longer when you push it. Last edited by ----; 7 February 2006 at 03:00 AM.. |

Those are lovely pics, Johnny...like looking at a picture postcard!! That snow does look fluffy and so inviting, but I think I'd rather stick with the warm weather we are having here, thank you!!

Besides, if the motor isn't using extra power to drive the transmission/tires, it should use LESS gas, Mr. Engineer! |

That does look nice. If we were to get snow like that around here it would literally shut the area down. Four inches or so overwhelms us around here.

Before Christmas we had a dump of 35cm in one 24 hour period. Pretty significant, even by our standards. Our articulated buses proved to be useless as the engine/drive wheels are behind the articulation, causing the buses to jack-knife. It snarled traffic for a few hours. But the city chugged on anyways. BTW, the pile of snow at the end of my driveway (thanks to the city plow and me snowblowing) at one point stood 5.5 feet tall. Now it's about 4 feet. It's been pretty freakish weather lately. The last two weeks have seen temps above 0C, so the pavement on the street is clear, and I can see grass patches on my lawn. But we had about 10cm fall overnight, last night. |

Al (avalon) and I are amazed at how different our weather is, considering I'm 'only' about 150 miles north of him, albeit, some 650km east... but we're in the same province. |

The snow pictures look beautiful, John. Glad it's you that took them and not me.
Thinking what that stuff would do to us in DC, I'm very thankful we've been having a mild winter down here. I believe the weatherman said that DC had 25 days of 60F+ in January. That suits me just fine.

When I was pushing it, I push it at my walking speed, which is pretty quick (and also is partially why the blower got clogged a few times. I didn't allow enough time for the snow to be cycled out of the chute. |
